Living in Qatar, how about the cost trend???

Hi Guys,
I'm an Engineer from south east Asia with around 7.5 years experience. One Qatar company offers me a job with basic salary: QR12000, then the total take home pay salary will be around QR 14000 (including transport and location allowance). The company will also give the accomodation (including the furniture grant)as stated in the job ofering letter, and they will also take care the medical expenses as well as education cost for my family. (Currently I have one kid, and will have the second kid in the end of year, Insya Allah). But still worry about the other living cost, because I heard that the cost trend increase very sharply in the past two years, is it true? How is the actual living cost right now? (For Food, leisure, internet, electricity, water, gasoline etc). Can anynone predict the trend? Is it still going up? or already calm down?. Can I have a descent car with QR36.000? How about the hospital there? Because if I move to Qatar, My wife will born my 2nd child there? I heard that it's difficult to conduct cesar surgery in Qatar, is it true?
So overall, Is it worth for me to go to qatar with above package? Considering the current living cost and trend.

Thank you.I'm looking forward for your replies.

Guys,

The company HR already confirmed about all package. Basically what they confirmed are similar to my expectation. But I still want to know about the school age. I mean how old a child can enter a primary school? Because the company don't cover for kindergarten, they cover the education cost for primary, preparatory and secondary? And what is preparatory anyway? Thanks

Thanks for the replies.

I think I will take the offer. Yes that helps Han414. So, let say with 50K, I can have a brand new car, right? I think I will go for it.

Sanjeeve, So, I don't have to worry about the medical treatment and quality also, right?

Al Salam Alykom,

I guess the package is good and will enable you to lead a decent live in shaa Allah. The most important thing is that housing is covered by your copmany. Rest of life expenses are normal and reasonable. For petrol, i have a big car, 3000 CC, 6 Cyl. and I pay something like 45 Qrs every 10 days. For 36K you can get a decent second hand car however I would recomend you pay a little more and get yourself a brand new car which should give you peace of mind for about 4 to 5 years. I hope that helps!

though there are alot of complains about hamad hospital, i would say that my wife had a very good experience with hamad hospital c-section delivery. she was treated with respect and care and good medical consultation.

back in malaysia, i paid RM8500 for such surgery and it only cost me QAR400++ here in Qatar. furthermore most medical equipments here in Qatar are off high quality and new.
