Need advice on Corporate Strategy package

Hi All,

I'm a Corporate Strategy and Planning professional educated in three different continents (USA, Europe, Asia). I have around 7 years relevant international experience. My education qualifications are B.S. Engineering + MBA Strategy.

  1.  I have been offered 41K Saudi Riyals in Riyadh with a leading MNC but my wife who is also an engineer + MBA won't get a change to work there.
  2. Another offer is in Doha with a government organization. They have offered 30K QR including Basic+ Housing. I also have option to avail govt provided accommodation by agreeing to deduct 4000 QR from my salary.

I know from my sources that I can negotiate this salary upto 34K QR best case scenario (with a risk of them refusing) and 32K for sure.

My sources also tell me that my wife should be able to get a salary of 24-28K QR. So total earning could be c.a. 50-55K QR.

Currently both of us have permanent stable jobs in New Delhi with Corporate Strategy function within an MNC. Our combined current monthly gross salary is 25K QR, net salary is around 15K QR + yearly bonus of around 25K QR.

Please advice if the offer in Doha is worth considering.

Thank you very much.

get everything together . . .if you get u r lucky . .. u might have to sacrifice something for the other. But again you have a choice to change a job or help your coorporate to grow better and you grow with the firm. But you have not mentioned your yrs of exp for us to judge and i feel that u mighthave got an offer from Qatar foundation or so. . . am i right?

Ruksana In Saudi there is almost zero possibility for my wife to get a job. And that's why we are also considering the offer in Qatar as our combined income will be higher + more personal freedom in Doha compared to Riyadh.

@ Rony Thanks. Personal freedom is a big factor for us. I woudn't want to force my wife into wearing a burkha. On top without a job for a couple of years, her qualifications/experience may become useless in future. @Blue panthers What I gather from the JD and discussions, the work looks quite challenging. Right now, we are also looking at a time period of one year (two at most) before returning to Europe.

thanks for sharing your salary sheet. But friend, if u r getting an offer in soudi for 41k accept it and keep trying to find a job for you and your wife in qatar. Planning to resign the present job / offer in hand should be planned only once you get a better one in qatar. According to me the situation in the present situation in qatar, i doubt if you might an offer as better as this or even near. It will certainly happen by begining of next yr, but not this yr . .. Any way GOOD LUCK. Let me remind you that every single penny you earn you have to pay tax anywhere other than middle east, and the cost of living is also reasonable so  - - think thrice b4 u jump up or down..ruksana

If you looking at savings - why not. The offer in Doha is good plus your wife has the opportunity to work too. You do end up saving a lot while in the gulf.

Expeirence in the gulf ain't great though - my colleague from IIM & IIT got frustrated working out here. Most strategy work is outsourced and you end up project managing.

I got frustrated initially when i came out here (gulf) - thought i'd remain only for a 1 year and leave. Ended up staying a lot longer :-) Take a chance but keep your options open to return back - i will again stress of the "savings" part which is great.

I wouldn't move out of homeland for that money (to each his own), if your wife can land up a job in advance - well and good.

41k salary in KSA is better than 55k in Qatar - cost of living wise

but life style and freedom wise QATAR is better
