newbie
Hi to all! literally i'm a newbie in terms of being an OFW. my experience was actually in a fast phase mode where I myself is surprised. What happened was, a friend of mine ask me if I wanted to work here in Qatar with the same position that we actually practicing. I said yes, she refer the address where I can send my resume, and to end, I got the position. I am direct hired, and my papers were coursed thru a liscensed agency to process it. Now, I want to ask these questions because I don't want to caught up middle and I want to know what to expect as well.
1. I'm done paying the document fees, done with my medical, and auntheticating my NBI, what will I be expecting next to my agency and how soon will I be waiting? Please orient me with the steps and timelines.
2. Is normal that will an OFW (especially for newbies) that will be given an allowance prior the departure?
3. In my case where I will be the one to look for my own place to stay, what do I need to consider and where can I find a bedspace (since i'm alone and girl pa ako)at a affordable price?
Your response is appreciated! Thanks in advance!
hi! thank you for responding. actually that friend is actually living in Abu Dhabi. she sent me an email for that job opening. as far as i know (and base on the contract), and as what they have explained to me, they'll be providing me a place to stay for a month as soon as i get there, and afterwards i'll be the one to look for my own. :-)
Welcome to QL! People are still asleep. I hope you'll get more answers later. :)
Question # 1- Your agency should tell you your exact schedule. That's why your employer has assigned an agency. The agency is coordinating with your employers. You should ask them.
Question # 2- Your employer might extend financial aid when you reach Qatar not prior to your arrival here. But if you can negotiate for a pre-departure allowance then well and good.
Question # 3- This should be clear with your employer if they will provide you an accommodation or instead give you housing allowance. In short, these things should be specified in your contract.
What about your 'friend' who invited you to apply here? Isn't he/she assisting you?
Well, I wish you all the best! Be strong. You'll need it. God bless you! :)
