So when is Recycling going to be taken serious in Qatar??
Interesting that the UAE are steaming ahead with their push to a greener future. (comment deleted by mod. )

ROFL! This is hillarious.
*Thumbs up*
Thank you for posting this. I feel the same as you. Can't stand throwing away so much trash knowing it's just piling up somewhere in the desert. Or worse, floating in the sea!!! :S
I have noticed collection bins at Katara but when I looked inside to see if they were being used properly, (paper in one, glass in another, etc) I found what I expected - garbage, all mixed in each one. I think, perhaps, they were planning on starting a program at one time but I'm pretty sure those bins r just being used as regular trash bins and there is no proper collection taking place.
I did a quick google search once and found that there are recycling plants for some materials here in Doha and, in the coming months (I've only been here for a few as it is), I'm planning on coordinating a grass-roots, volunteer-based collection for my compound.
Qatar will catch up eventually but if the residents demonstrate it's a priority, change may follow more readily. I dunno, just feel like I should stop waiting for Qatar to make changes and maybe see what small steps I can take myself
