University Job- Salary range

Hi there.

I've been offered a research job at University in Qatar. I was wondering if the salary is enough to live in there with two kids (age 2 and 3) and my spouse.

Basically, they offered the following package:

- 3.500USD monthly gross income
- a fully furnished accommodation
- school fees for kids
- up to 500USD for transportation, monthly
- coverage of medical insurance
- home leave allowances

Would you please give me some info. if it is enough to live happy in middle class level and save up some money (how much?) as well.

Mainly, I will have to spend for food and clothing as well as for going out or traveling with family.

Thanks!

I really didn't think about comparing the amount of money I can save here or there. Thanks for the wise advice.

If the maximum range to save is around 1500$ + downgrading in family and personal activities then most probably I will not accept the offer.

Would you also share some information regarding the life quality in Qatar?

Is there anything that may be the reason to come to Doha to live satisfied with this amount? (Even if I don't save at all)

I mean the social/cultural life or any other?

It has to be compared to what you SAVE not EARN back home.

Bearing in mind the DOWNGRADING that will happen to your family / social / sports / cultural life.

But definitely by such a package you will be able to save 1000-1500$ a month provided that the school they pay for is a decent one.

The main expenditure here is accomodation and schools.

Thank you very much for response:).

"Maybe not" means definitely not enough and clearly it is not 'Maybe yes which may be possible under some circumstances'.

More responses will be appreciated!
