VODAFONE SIM FRAUD !
Let me share an interesting / informative incident which happened with me today evening. I received a call from Vodafone saying I was lucky winner for QR 200000. Thanks that I recognized before I got into his trap.
Let me explain in detail...A guy called stating that my SIM card was chosen as part of international call promotion offer. For confirmation, they quoted my SIM card number and generated my Prize number. Later they asked my QID and account number and said I can check my account wherein the prize money of 200000 will be deposited. We were almost caught in their trap till end, but the moment he told us to deposit service charge through exchange, I got cautious and Thanks to God that i was saved. The interesting thing here is the amount I had in my account was same as they wished for Service Charge, that gave my little suspicion. When I tried to ignore their offer, the person started speaking in abusive language and then my suspicion of doubt became true. In the process, they were able to extract my QID and account number, but i guess they cannot do anything from that. The number from which I received the call was from UAE +971557280673. The guy was Pakistani.
I hereby request Vodafone officials to please inform Higher officials about the same and make a public announcement about their fraud scheme / plan and save General public. If anymore information is needed on this matter, you can very well reply back.
I just received that call this morning. My first reaction: Oh? How did i win? Then he was explaining like he was running out of time. I just kept on answering oh really? oh? weh? hahaha! Find someone you can fool! Not me!
Just now (11.20 AM-26-01-2016) I talked to the guy. He is from Dubai congratulating me for winning Qr. 200,000. Asked for my QID and Expiry.
People seriously fall into these things?
It's sort of common sense. Nobody 'wins' this kind of money all of a sudden.
how did you know he was a Pakie?
i got he called from Dubai today for the same thing... the moment he talked to me,i knew it is fraud..guys beware , number was 00971527152962
thatswhy i always advised you to wake-up early, see you got late & it came into your knowledge now :p
thanx for sharing this
@ flexicode ouch! LOL! :)...
No wonder these conmen are still in business! Fortunately their service charge was equal to your account balance..
I don't even remember how many such calls I've got. Although, your topic is kinda misleading.
Yes...that made me alert too, but the way they had planned their Modus Operandi was smart that any third person will fall in their prey.
It shows how innocent you are? Your sim card in doha and you talked with a pakistani national from a dubai mobile number.
This kind of scam is very popular these days and even QTEL has alerted about it earlier.
