What to expect, to move or not to move to Qatar from Hungary?

Hi There,

My husband got a job offer in Doha, and now we are really thinking about accepting this. He would start mid-end September, and hopefully me and our 8 month-old could join him in 3-4 weeks. However, we have lots of questions to be able to determine whether it is a good opportunity for us.
I'd really appreciate if you could help us answer them.

- Is QAR 12k a decent salary for a specialist level job (+allowances like housing, transportation, insurance, flight ticket)
- How much is the average monthly grocery cost for a family of 3?
- What cost should we expect in terms of dining out in a mid-range restaurant?
- What should we expect for leisure costs (e.g. monthly membership for yoga/fitness centers, club membership for hotels)?
- How challenging do you find the weather conditions, especially for a baby??
- Is it reasonable to find decent housing for QAR 6k, even in a compound with at least a swimming pool?
- For Mums who stay at home with little ones, how do you generally find life in Doha?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks already for some answers. Just to clarify, the 12k QAR is a basic salary, and we would get housing, transportation etc. allowances on top of that.

Thanks

Oh, my, that's a very low salary. You need around 12,000 in rent alone to live in a nice compound with a swimming pool!

6k QR is not enough for living in a compound with swimming pool
