Let them complete the Pearl project first then am sure they will look into other projects which are in pipeline for future constructions... but again for success of any project Qatar has to change it's labour and Immigration policies to attract more foreigners .... more foreigners means more Multinational Companies ,,, more MC's means more Tourist and more projects and more tourist means more boost in economy and real estate :-)

We went over for family and school outings. One week we were there and a few days later we drove past and most of the trees and the whole complex had vanished. My son burst into tears. I heard rumours that it was pulled down because some Qataris were using it for 'illicit relations'. Amazing a country that can strip an island from one day to the next, it should be recreated as a family friendly complex.

Ha ha !

One palm tree and flat small island remind me of those

funny island cartoons !

One person is washed ashore such island and dreaming

of some luxuaries and talking high without any resources !

Remember ?

Nothing against the project though !

Despite still being advertised as a tourist destination in numerous hotel and tourist company brochures (as well as on many website) it was flattened in the run up to the 2006 Asian Games.

It was rumoured to be having a fountain built on it but apparently the bay isn't deep enough to support this, so the latest rumour is that it will support a huge observation tower.

As the name suggest that the island is for the Palm Tree so all the construction around the Palm Tree was illegal so they demolished it.

prior to the 2006 asian games it was de-commisioned

there were numerous talks of other spectacular features to replace it. but as you can see, probably just rumors
