I am looking to purchase a nice 4x4.

I have narrowed it down to 3:

Ford Expedition - good value for a newish model - nice spec, parts are cheap and easily obtained

Nissan Patrol Safari - expensive but very good off-road capability - assume quite expensive for servicing?

Mercedes GL500 - very swish, unsure about off-road capability - expensive parts and servicing?

Need at least 7 seats and would like to be able to take to Inland Sea etc so off-road is quite important.

Any views/experience with regards to reliability and suitability etc?

Why don't you try the Nissan Armada if you want 7 seater?

A brilliant 4x4 . I had one for 2 years and loved it.

Buy new if you can as you don't know how they have been driven here.

I say Toyota Land Cruiser , which is not on the list , has 6 seats and very smooth to drive , cheap spare parts as well :)

Am an absolute novice on vehicles, so forgive me for my ignorance but could you tell me why you ruled out the Toyota land cruiser. We were thinking of buying a land cruiser. And what is your opinion of the Prado?
