Advice on Places for Accomadation.

I'm planning on moving to Doha, and just looking for any recommendations on where to live. Unlike most people, i don't want to waste my salary on accommodation. Currently, i live in Dubai. I live in one of those old villas (30years old)that is chopped up into small apartments and the common outdoor space at the middle of the villa is shared by all. We have our own studio sized flats in this villa, with our own bathroom and kitchen. I pay 3,000 aed plus 250aed dewa(electricity) which is similar in value to the Qatar riyal. I am Canadian and my wife is Philipino. We like to live close to all amenities ( restaurants, downtown life etc), which i guess would be similar to a downtown section, but we're not picky. We just want to live somewhere comfortable and save our money.

So any advice on which neighborhoods to live in, or which direction to search in would be most helpful. Thank you.
Tim...soon to be in Qatar.

Reducha,

If you are looking for a studio unit, a rent of about more or less than 3,500 would be aggreable with the accommodation available at Madina Khalifa South, opposite American Embassy. Think about that and come to visit the place for negotiation.

For your requirement, it suits in AL WAKRA, EZDAN compound, where-in 2 BR Independent Apartment will cost you around 5000 per month but the catch is you will get 6 months free, so effectively you are paying only 3250 per month.

It is independent compound with all amenities.
