Car rental or buy second hand?

Does anyone have any idea what i could expect to spend on car rental a month for a 4x4? I asked a couple of people but i heard some very different amounts (ranging from 5000 QR to 11000). I am looking for a reliable car though so not one that has been driven for 7 years through the desert. I called Avis but they don't have any 4x4's anymore at the moment.
Would i be better off buying a second hand one if i need a car for four months???

But why rental. Because if it really is around 10000 riyals a month. For that price times 4 i could get a good 2nd hand 4x4 wouldn't i?

I'm looking for some more information so i can decide.

I see lot's of 4x4's in the classifieds on this website that are in the pricerange of 30000-50000. Am i missing something in my calculation that would make it tip to renting in stead of buying?

Pretty confused about what to do at the moment.
