current teachers at Al Maha academy for boys

Hi All

I've been offered a position at the boys academy. I have read quite a lot of negative things about the Ta'allum group schools. So I'm windering how the current teachers are experiencing the school.
Overall are you happy teaching at the school, how is the accommodation set-up and in regards to the exit visa does the school provide an annual multi-exit visa or is it very difficult to gain approval every time you want to leave the country?
Any feedback is much appreciated!!!

Ace Teacher. Ha, ha, ha. Very funny. I guess a 'good lesson' would involve reinforcing known concepts and rearranging prejudices. Teaching was like casting pearl before swine.

you are the guy who couldn't cope and just sat and watched students do what they wanted in class. No skills at all and all you ever did was make more work for us coz you didn't know how to plan a single lesson. We are better off without you.

QatarHoward..........aka 'useless teacher'. Fired after a few months as his idea of teaching IT was to give 'Golden Time' for students when he couldn't think what to teach.

IT lessons consisted of games all the time. The only comments here are from those who were inadequate and thought they could just collect salaries without even doing anything. I've been here 4 years and its ok. No better or worse than any other school.

Briish teacher agencies are now saying that there is to be a 'clear out'...again. I tried to work there and it was awful. I do not look back and laugh. It is an asylum, full of mysery. But they like sharing.

everything u say guys is 100% true.I've experienced it and I didn't even survive the first three month.it has nothing to do with education. It needs a complete school system to be named a school.

Hi Howard,

You are spot-on about Al Maha Academy. They pushed out a lot of good teachers, made up lies on evaluations, and were often led by people who did not listen to TRUTH.

I hope that you have found a better assignment in which to work this year.

One of the worst schools in Qatar. I was there is 2011/2012. I have friends still there who say it has got even worse. Bullying, abusive, racist and a place where no education happens. It is a local school for local Qatari boys, not an international school. You can see rapid teacher turnover of SMT and normal classroom teachers. It was the worst year of my life and I watch first hand teachers fail, breakdown, crack, fired and pushed out. Under no circumstances would I suggest you work there. They hire good and bad teachers and treat them all the same. The only reason to go work there would be if you are single and have serious debt problems. Save for one year and get out. Most teachers though can't survive on year. It is a staggeringly Unislamic hell hole where abuse is normal. For more info, visit, http://www.almahaschoolreview.com

Have you read the reviews of the academy on the International Schools Review website. Lots of interesting reviews there written by teachers, there's a small subscription fee, but you really should read it if you are considering this school.
