details on government accommodation..

Dear all,
I have been offered a position in doha and the company provides either an HRA of 4k or goverment accommodation. However, I could not find any detail regarding what the "government accommodation" constitute of.
It would be great if you guys could provide me with details or share experience about the quality and type of accommodation designated as 'goverment accommodation'.
Can any body guide me about govt housing.I have recently applied for Govt accomodation as my housing allowance is 4k.How much time required to get furniture allowance once accepting the unfurnished govt house?
Can anyone tell me about the situation re; government housing and sponsorship. I was in the process of applying for government housing and have now been told I have to transfer my sponsorship (am currently under my husband's sponsorship) to complete this.
Just want to know if this is the case for everyone or just my organisation? if anyone knows?
Thanks,
hotel accommodation was provided for the first two month by the company. Then spent another two month staying in temporary accommodation while w8ing for gov accommodation.
Cancelled the gov accommodation because of this uncertainty and rented a flat using the allowance provided.
could anyone else also share with his/her experience with government housing? about process itself, quality of apartments, furnished/unfurnished, etc.
any information would be appreciated.
where did you live for those 1-2 months? how bad is the government housing? are the flats in a building that has gym etc?

thanks for the last information, but could you provide updated info for today? have you found accomodation and moved in? was it provided by government housing department?
I have similar situation. I've got an offer with 2,5 K housing allowance (since I'm single) or as an option government housing. 2,5 K is too low to find an accomodation, so I'm thinkinng about government housing. but I have concerns about quality

Just to update those who may require this information:-
1. I applied for the Government accommodation and it took them 1-2 month to process my application.
2. I had to the housing department to know that I can be allocated an accommodation.
3. I visited a couple of accommodation so far, I am quite disappointed. The flats are indeed big , 3 bedroom minimum, but they are very very very old and poorly maintained. But I guess it depends on your luck, 'network' and grade. If you are grade 1-2 then I guess you should be fine.
The Orchard Road in Singapore is truly a shopper's paradise with a multitude of shops containing an exclusive range of items. Before commercial development prompted the huge influx of buildings the area was abundant with plantations and orchards and this resulted in the name Orchard Street.

The blog article very surprised to me! Your writing is good. In this I learned a lot! Thank you!i like the way you blogged about this topic.
Thx, I've been doing some research and u r rite qatarliving91, 4k is quite low.
I fink i'll be going for the government accommodation.
Go for govt. acc.... They'll provide you 2 or 3 bedroom flat and I'm sure u can't get that type of acc in 4K....The quality of acc will be very good, they will show you 2 or 3 flats, u can select whichever you like......
depends. generally you have the option to check the flats before you take it.
Thx for the advice.
Do you know the quality of the accommodation? or can anybody share their experience regarding the quality?
the accomodation provided by the housing dept. ideally its better to take the government accomodation as the HRA provided will not suffice for a 2-3bedroom flat
in government which dept
