Hi All.
Does anybody know if it's possible to do a driving test (written/practical) in English, in Qatar??
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Julia,

I am very new in Doha, Qatar. So, I would like to take a driving license in Qatar.

For the testing test and the driving learning period, how long the period is. Just approximately.

In addition, what will be the cost approximately, including the learning and the test?

Thanks.

Oswald

If they have good connections with traffic police, ie if their reps are on the ball, then it's just a matter of issuing you a Qatari license based on your national one.

Hi Tommy,

There is no written test in Qatar, just practical (L, parking and street), on manual car. You can try Doha Modern Driving School, i don't know their number, but the location is in the Zoo area.

Good luck,

Julia

As English is the one major, common thread between Qatar's multinational population, almost everything can be done in it. Depending upon what it is you are tyring to accomplish, a little patience may be in order while someone who speaks it fluently can be found to help you on your way. Most frontmen/women do have the multilingual skills necessary to complete a purchase transaction or to give you the information you seek. This, however does not hold true for the "Old Souk" where it is a good idea to have a fluent arabic speaking person along just in case. I have personally found that if one puts forth the effort to try to communicate, however badly in arabic, or one of the Indian dialects, (depnding on who your trying to communicate with) most people tend to not want to see you struggle and readily break into english.
