I have an extensive dvd/vcr/cd collection. Can I play them on a tv/dvd/vcr player bought in Doha. Or is it easier to send my own over?

We shipped the DVDs with our goods in a sea container from Australia. I have to say that I am a bit possessive about my collection and had the same concerns.

When my goods were delivered the boxes containing our DVD's were a bit light and I was gutted to discover that out of 250 or so we only had a handfull and not all disks were in the covers. They were very kind and gave us the sleeves for the boxed collections - but no boxed collection.

Although we were not told at the time, customs had kept them as they were still being reviewed. What a job - watching collections of DVD's!

Good new was that after a few weeks they were delivered back to us and only one was missing, and I think they just forgot to put it back in the case. We were charged an additional delivery charge because it was not delivered with the rest of our goods but hey ho.

Good luck.

I am also considering the best way to bring my dvd collection (around 300 films) or not to bring at all.

Do most people include inside their container to be sent by sea or hand-carry ? Any problems with customs - note movies not "XXX" but some are not for children (e.g. Basic instict 2 and similar types).

Brilliant idea on the cd cases-I would never have thought of that!! It'll certainly help weight wise too. Thank you!

We are also bringing our collection - we bought CD cases that hold 1 hundred DVDs each. works perfectly and takes very little room.

No offence jrdebug-but I won't even let my mum borrow my dvds-just incase something happens to them!!! I'm a wee bit a***** retentive when it comes to my sci/fi collection! Come to think of it-I'm not sure that bringing over is such a good idea! What if they get lost in transit??? Scary!

I love watching videos too! Would rather stay at home than go and hangout. You think i can borrow some? I promise to return them in perfect condition.

So it's probably cheaper to buy my entertainment system in Doha than sending it over. Although saying that-my collection will probably cost a fortune to send over anyways!!
