Good Salary Range
A quick question on salary packages for expats to anyone currently living there and aware of family expenses. I am currently being offered a total salary package of $46,500 QR for a management position. This includes base salary, housing allowance and transportation allowance. I would travel with my wife and 4-year old. Is this a good salary expectation there?
thanks

James, it's better if you start your own thread as you're likely to get more responses.
Anyway, 14,500 per month for a villa is not a lot. 20,000 seems more appropriate. Some villas actually go for a lot more than that!
Regarding the schools, I know a lot of people who did not manage to get their kids in to school!
Again, better start your own thread, people are more likely to answer to new threads, especially if it is schooling related.
HI ALL
I have been researching cost of renting a villa in Qatar, 3 bed minimum family villas in compound must be family friendly & western friendly & it seems that I will need at least QR 20,000 per month for rental; I need assistance is this correct.
I need to know ASAP so I can contact my company to get the housing allowance adjusted, as at the moment they are only offering 14,500 per month housing.
Also can anyone help with how easily available British schooling is & how much it will cost per year for a 4 year old girl.
Thank you all in advance for all & any assistance given.
James
many thanks
initally on any other country or even in GCC the basic salary package depends on the existing cost of living on a country. if the company could provide you everything, even half of it will be enough to live decently. but still it depends on your lifestyle. people who understand the money management matters will win the game. just try it man! I think 40K even in QR will be enough. If i were you, why not try it first alone in qatar. save for the next few months then take your family after you have enough money to start with. okei!
Read everyone else's comments. It is not possible to tell you how much is a good salary. Draw up a budget, we can help you with prices.
I am not familiar at all with the money conversions and stuff but would a salary of $80K - $90K in U.S. dollars allow me a decent living? I have currently been offered a potential job there and I have no clue what to expect. Safety as an American is probably a pretty standard concern. I've heard that the heat and traffic are a bigger issue than any type of terrorist activities.
Also, what will life for a single American male be like? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

shaz000, are you currently earning less than 18k a year in the UK?
i am looking at moving to qatar i am a recruitment consultant being offered £18,000 per annum - is this a good salary to live on if i am only focusing on working hard and not really socialising much, because i am female going on my own - i will need to make new friends, can someone please tell me more about living in qatar such as the people, crime, culture - as much as you can tell me will really really help
I'm moving from California, U.S.A. to Doha next week. I don't know much about Qatar but based on my research, 1,800 QR per month may be quite difficult to live there. Where are you moving from? How are you planning to live at Qatar? Is your accomodation/transportation free?
To be honest, your income doesn't make sense. As you know, the inflation there is quite high and I'm afraid your income will not cover it.
Best of luck!
Tia
hello there every1 , i'am really excited to be in qatar, there one question i wanted to ask could really find a streight answer !!
i'll be working in qatar , i'm expecting to get 1.800 QR per month is that actually a good salary ???
avetta: I am assuming you mean $80-90K a year, which is QR24K-QR27K a month. Like the last ten thousand people who have asked that question, it all depends on your lifestyle. If you rent a bedspace for QR500/month you have potential to save a lot. Or you can't live without your 9 bedroom villa you will lose money every month. The best thing for you to do is look at the cost of living in the US versus the cost of living in Qatar. Now compare what your bring home salary is at each, remember that Qatar does not have income tax so if you are making $80-90K now it is automatically a 30% bonus to come here. Then you can make an informed decision from there.
By the way, the Qatari Riyal is pegged to the US Dollar at QR3.65=$1

the confusion has arisen because of the $ sign in front of the figure. It should read QR 45,000 per month.
The accommodation allowance is not enough to get a decent place and you could find yourself paying from your own pocket. The rest of the deal looks OK.
Check out the accommodation on the classifieds.

If its $ its an annual salary.
666, how on Earth you got that $46,500 equals to QR14,143 is beyond me.
666 ur calculator is not working, change ur batteries

Whether it's dollars or riyals and annual or monthly, it's still impossible to answer because we have no idea what the person's current standard of living is. It's the same every time someone posts a salary question.
Ksa, not if you want to live in a stand alone villa that'll cost you 30k a month. It's all relative and no one can tell him if it's a good salary or not. He needs to draw up a budget, understand how much things cost and then decide.
46.5k is wonderful for some people (like me, lol) but I understand if some people don't think it's enough.
46500QR or $ the more appropriate question is, whether it is Monthly or per annum...
Per month...doesnt matter the currency, its a [last warning - no swearing] good salary...LOL!
i got plenty around dont worry will show you

never see a blonde cat DaRuDe ... sorry ...
that basic salary is that 46,500 US or 46,500 riyal?
never gets it right
[img_assist|nid=73057|title=.|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
And if it is 46,500 QR per month just blindly accept it.
Well 46,500$ equals 14143.75 QR per months.
Two bed room appartment not less than 8000, utilities bills 500 QR. Monthly house expenses around 2000. Car if on lease around 750 min.
You can do your maths. Also search for living expenses and you will get a lot of info.

It also depends on how you want to live, where do you want to eat... My suggestion is to draw up a budget. We can help you with the cost of things and then you decide for yourself.
Yes its a very good salary for a management position. You can have a very good life style with this salary.
you mean 46,500 Dollars or Riyals? /month
It depends on:
Your experience;
Your profession;
Your salary back home;
Your spending patterns.
