Hi All,

Can anybody update me about the status of QP Senior Staff accommodation at Mesaieed?

Many thanks,

anytime ossy ... but everything in Doha / Qatar always take slower than the plan.

Thank you novita77. In fact your information was very useful and much appreciated. There are definitely building a new school there, likewise they did in Dukhan before. My concern is that the school won't be finish by the start of next academic year so I am a bit worried about that. But if you say that they are building the new compounds for staff that means that they are certainly expanding in the area...

I don't know, will have to wait and see.

Thanks again for your help.

hi ossy ... as far as i know QP have build the senior staffs housing compound. I think their plan is to house their new hire Mesaieed QP staffs in that compound ... i heard there will be 2500 housing unit. Means about 2500 families? (i probably wrong, because some of them also allocated for bachelor staffs).

the only school i know in Mesaieed is Norwegian curriculum school.

to be honest with you ... i have no idea about investment and stuffs. I would think if there is 2500 expat family would be living in Mesaieed, business establishment (shop, restaurant and others)  would expanding their branch to Mesaieed.

I wont be surprise if QP trying to set up an expat school in Mesaieed just like in Dukhan. That way the family who living in Mesaieed dont have to commute to Doha (50 kms each way) for school run.

Things in Doha always finish later than what being said. I remembered the construction of Mic Mac fly over supposed to be only for 14 months, it is only finish after 2 yrs.

My husband just told me that the new QP office which stop building for the last 2 or 3 yrs now continue-ing the construction again.

I am not much help ossy ... i would say  go as far as you could with the offer and decided till really the last minutes to take it or not.

@ Novita77

Judging by your comments and the fact that your husband has been working in Mesaieed for tha last 6 years, I think you might be able to help me with this. I have been offered a job in Mesaeeid, but a friend of mine has adviced me not to take it as apparently, all the investment and business projects that the Qatari government was expecting to shift to and invest in Mesaieed, is really not happening. According to my friend the place is not turning out to be the place they thought it would be as businesses are not investing there so the future doesn't look right. My job would be in a QP school that is supposed to be built next year (in fact it was supposed to be built by the end of August but it won't be).

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

you said your husband has been travelling between mesaieed and doha for six years and never saw a carvan ... so did he saw a portacabin? :-)

I hope no....

I will work for CCC ... i don't know if you know it or no ... but do you or your husband have any idea about the kind of accomodation at CCC in mesaieed ?

Actually i don't want to stay in doha ... i will have to buy a car and drive everyday for 40 km to and from mesaieed ... I'd rather stay in mesaieed and be beside the work site better.

Thanks guys ... please advise

How come ..portacabin are very bad and small... i don't think so!!!

I hope somebody tells me what he saw actually in mesaieed at engineers accomodations.

what is the common shape of workers accomosations?

Merci

Thank you very much ... but i think that the company mentioned something about carvans?!! not a multi-story building.

Did u happen to see carvans used as residential units?

Carvans mainly means : a ready unit used for residential purposes or office. But I can't imagine how to live in carvans especially that it will take big land space to accomodate big numbers.

I am single so i will be taking one single room.

Please advise.

kingtout, the accommodation will depend on your status (married or single), your company, and your grade. For family there're multistory flats building or independent houses (2 bed room or 3 or 4). The residential areas are "very quiet" and relatively much safer, compared to big cities like Cairo (I think the population is less than 30,000, at least up to now). If you're living there as bachelor, then you might be given a bachelor accommodation, one big room with a bathroom in a multistory building. There's a nice park and playing ground for kids there. Health center facility is good (the doctors, well... that depends). Public transport is not good, but for some it's sufficient. You might need to have a car as soon as you can. Public buses depart every hour or half an hour to Doha (usually quiet congested, but the bus trip from Doha to Mesaieed could be much worse especially at weekends). No taxi. Some drivers might be willing to take you to Doha for small amount of money. There's only one shopping area with some shops (the biggest one is a medium sized supermarket Novita77 mentioned), restaurants, laundry, barbers, etc. But don't worry, once you obtain a car, it will be easy to shop to Doha instead. As for Corolla or Lancer (new car), the price ranged around QAR 55,000 more or less. Hope that helps.

kingtout ... i am sorry i cant help you in that department. My husband commuting Doha - Mesaieed daily, so we have no idea about the acommodation.

about car hire ... do search the forum ... people have asked alot of question about it before. And if you search the classified ... there are some people who advertise car hire on there. I think few days ago there was on by Wiedmanbalzin or something like that.

Thanks alot novita77 ... but what about living in the communities ?

Is living there good or what ?

what they look like?

I will be taking a single room? is it a room in a multistory building or is it a single carvan like room?

what does a car cost? say like Mitsubishi lancer or Toyota corolla ?

Thanks alot

mesaieed is more like an industrial zone. Qatar Government try to develop it and move more people to live in there. It started by moving bachelor people who work for QP living down there.

as far as i know they have 1 groceries shop under Shop Rite, 1 thai noodle, some other small shops. And if you do going to work for QP ... the medical centre and dentist in mesaieed are superb. Much better than Doha.

i would say you will still need to get your own car to be mobile.
