Newbie...Accommodation Questions
Hello Everyone,
Just signed on the dotted line to move from Muscat to Doha. Office in Doha will be in the West Bay Lagoon area near the Diplomatic section. Been surfing the net a bit and not sure where the best area to live in would be considering my limited housing budget of 11000 QR per month. We are currently in a Villa in Oman, but would be open to an apartment in Doha. Where is Gharaffa in relation to the West Bay lagoon area? Bad traffic daily? Or the Beverly Hills 3 Bedroom Apartments Al Rayyan; would they be better located? How many square meters are they? We will have one child in school, but nothing secured as of yet, but for arguments sake lets say housing shouldn't be too far from the Canadian School either. Any happy medium? BTW we're a family of 4 (Me, my wife, 7 yo daughter, and 2 yo little guy)
Thanks in advance, and look forward to any help you can give.
just opposite the Canadian School. If they have vacant villa?
even the price of housing there is within your budget and good for the four of you. And Dafna is very accessible going to the Canadian school for your child. And there are a lot of nursery school for your toddler.
I would recommend the area opposite Qatar University or along the University itself as it is nearer the Canadian School! From there, easy access (wide road) leading to the school!
West Bay to Garaffa.... 20 minutes... depending upon which Roundabouts you take....
West Bay .... Landmark and Garaffa are in one line...so to say.
So if you are woking at West Bay and your kids are at Landmark....then dont go beyond Landmark for housing...
Yes we will have 3 bedroom accommodation from the company when we arrive while we look for suitable outside accommodation. Do you know what the drive from Gharaffa to West Bay would be like?
Thanks
Will you be getting temporary accomocation for teh first few weeks in Qatar?
If not, are you planning to make a short house hunting trip to Qatar?
It would help you a lot to visit some of teh compounds once you are in Doha and get a feel of teh distance / routes / traffic etc.
Gharafa is near Landmark and there are lots of villas there.
It would be a good area for you to live in regarding location and price.
2pm is when i drive past landmark....and its fairly busy at that time but not impossible.
The Canadian School is apparently very close to the Landmark Mall if that helps. Anyone know where Gharaffa is, and if the Villa Compounds are good there?
What is the school run like from West Bay to the Landmark area, and then back out again at 2pm?
Anyone know if the Beverly Hills Al Rayyan 3 bedroom apartments are big enough for a family of 4?
Thanks again, just wish we were there already, this waiting to move is no fun!
I AM SURE, YOU ARE A SINGER...
I do not know where the Canadian school is here in Qatar...so can't say anything about a good area t live in around there.
West Bay lagoon is very nice, but pretty expensive...unless you go to the ZigZag tower, which has come down in price, but is awful to live in from what friends told me.
There are hotels in West Bay lagoon that also have residences, quite nice from what I saw. Don't know what they would cost though.
You can get a villa for the amount available to you, but that would be unfurnished, and the compound would be kind of mid level. You would still have pool, gym, etc.
You might want to try the Al Waab area.
Now, traffic is really bad no matter where you are,so if you can find a good place to live at your budget, IMHO, take it.
I think new areas like Ain Khalid, Simaisma etc, are less expensive, but they are further out of the city.
