Qatar is definately not for young people unless you are riding many hobby horses. If you value time, and clubbing is not part of life, if you are lil conservative and modesty is part of you then you will enjoy Qatar.

not too sure Rodl is correct.

my wife and i lived in a few countries, and while it did add stress to our lives, our relationship is stronger for it now.

My South African boyfriend didn't enjoy Qatar that much when he did his internship here but we made it worthwhile. Qatar is flat and clubbing here gets old because of the limited numbers of bars/clubs unlike in S.Africa.

He will visit Qatar only when I want him to, other than that he's just not keen on the idea of staying here and well, it's just different.

I have been to South Africa and boy did I have so much fun there. It's nothing compared to Qatar. If you survived the expensive costs there in South Africa then need not worry here in Qatar. As for housing, just make sure the company will be providing it before anything else.

I surely miss all the greenery in S.Africa! :)

no. if you want to make sure that you can get a good start with your family life, have it somewhere you're comfortable with. usually, its your place of origin. going to a country you have no idea of will complicate your married life in many ways you wont expect.

Qatar can be a good place for newly weds.

Are you planning on starting a family soon? If so then Qatar is pretty good. It's a small city and relatively clean, so it's a nice place to raise children - until they get a bit older at which point it is not a good place to be with children (schooling is very expensive and personally, i don't want my little girl seeing how the asian workers and servants etc. are treated here and going back to Canada thinking it is normal).

The health care is a bit dodgy too - my wife gave birth at arguably the best hospital in the country and it was pretty scary. But, our pediatrician at the same hospital is very good.

As long as your family has a secure income and you are happy in your work, then you should be good here. This isn't much of a party place, but newly weds usually like their own private parties so no big deal.

Also, the expat community here is great. we've been here a year, had our baby 3 months ago, and have met many nice people. There are days when certain aspects of Doha get on my nerves, but overall it's all good.

It depends where you are moving from. If you are used to having nothing to do other than shop in a limited amount of stores and spend a fortune on meals out in nice hotels then dont bother. Its as boring as hell and you get glared at if you so much as hold hands in public

On person advised you to go to Dubai if you have the choice - DONT unless u plan to be in debt before u even begin ur married life...

Doha is an easy country - its not hard to live here.. but as others have said - one of you at least should have a job they are coming to and the other will find a job easily no problem. If u get a good package then you have nothing to worry about. Life is ok and not so expensive (like in dubai) the only thing that can cause problems is accomodation and if ur lucky enough to have a package that includes it then ur fine.. or if both of u are working and have a good accomodation allowance you can find something nice and small to begin with..

Good luck.. and congratulations..

Qatar is a place which offers a lot of opportunity with it booming right now. So compared to the rest of the world, the middle east/qatar would be a good place to ride the wave.

As for the newly wed question - as long as you are not in the habit of "making out" on the Doha corniche/theater or make love on the beach under the moonlight - you'll be fine.

Why Qatar? Go to swizerland or if planning to go near by then go Dubai....

There is nothing in Qatar other than soaring rents and trafiic jams

One of you will need to have a definite job offer here before you move here.
