Rent Dispute - Please Answer - Urgent
My landlord has failed to provide me a hibitable apartment for more than two months now. A/c in my apartment has not been working for more than two months now. They tried to correct it but failed. My question is that I learnt that Qatar rent law says in such a situation I need to go to rent dispute committee to get approval to get it repaired on my own and charge it to the landlord. See the law below.
"Chapter 2 of the law deals with the rights and obligations of the landlord and the tenant. The landlord is bound by law to carry out all the maintenance work of the premises rented out. If the landlord fails to abide by this condition, the tenant may approach the committee concerned for permission to carry out the maintenance and deduct the costs thereof from the monthly rent."
My issue is eventhough landlord trie to cure my issue he failed. This simply means that as an individual I can't cure this issue. It a centralized A/C system that I have. Now I informed them that I am going to leave. Eventhough I asked for a release letter so far I didn't get. I have all the e-mails etc. that I sent to them.
My question is if I happen to leave after giving notice to them that I am leaving the aprtment since they failed to make a/c functioned for almost two months, what will be the repurcussions. I have given them cheques etc.
