Where do I start?
My family and I are moving to Qatar in Sept and we have so much to sort out. Not sure how much stuff to bring with me. I was thinking of getting the cot and TV shipped. We also have lots of books, toys, car seat etc.
Does anyone have a sort of list in Excel to help me get started, as they maybe stuff I haven't thought of.
Also would i have to, secure a place with a nursery now for Sept. If so, I need to consider how we get from where we live to nursery and work. Will be working for HMC. Can people suggest some areas and some good nurseries
Many Thanks
Aisha
oh ok, I was thinking of buying bedding from John Lewis.
I suppose I could just put stuff in storage and buy new things in Qatar.
I also have a lot of baby clothes. I was wandering whether to bring all that stuff too? As some point in the future I would like to have another child. Contract is for 3 yrs
Does anyone have a list they made, when they moved?
It maybe more important for you to bring (as mentioned, toiletries) that you can't get here....especially only local stuff. I really missed my papaw ointment and now that I had a friend bring some over, others want it too! Think hard about everyday stuff you take for granted and ask about those.
And with bedding....there is such a variation on mattress size here so be careful

I'd leave the cot, I brought mine over but I regret it. It would've been cheaper to buy one here. I'd recommend bringing your child's toys though, the toys here are very cheap quality in comparison to UK toys and seem to break very easily. I brought over my favourite kitchen stuff too. I also suggest bringing over your toiletries, you can't get everything here. Also, bring over decent bedding, you can't get good quality stuff here. You can get pretty much everything else though :-)

from my experience it is very expensive to ship goods to qatar(from uk anyway) and in most cases you would be better off selling the plasma and cot and buying new here - T.V's etc are pretty cheap here.

Yeh sorry I wont be bringing any furniture or white goods, that is all staying. I was thinking of the cot and the plasma TV. Otherwise we will have to buy a cot and TV in qatar and I don't see the point in that.
We won't be able to take everything in our luggage, as I want to take some of my kitchen stuff (not all)
Oh this is not gonna be easy. I hate leaving anything behind and I know I am going to be ruthless.
Its not wise to ship furnitures unless you are planning to stay here long term..you can get good furnished apartments or villa for reasonable rent....btw HMC normally provide furnished accomodation to its staff...
Good resedential areas near HMC are Al saad, Bin Mohammud..around Ramada jn etc..
you can get everything here...dont bring any winter clothes...winter is mild here..and its over..just bring your other clothes, books, toys etc..and if any personal items which you cant find here...like cosmetics or toileteries..
you can find a list of schools and Nursery from this link..
