Who has a crystal ball.... rent question!

I've heard mixed opinions on whether the rent is going to come down further or not after the New Year. I am hoping it will, as I'm house hunting for a compound villa. I see there are quite a few new compounds vacant and some seem to stick around a while, and this may push their prices down further, however I am wondering whether there's going to be a huge influx of people moving to Doha in the New Year or not..... Does anyone have any inside info?!

Interesting to know....

Well, I am arriving in Doha in Jan from Dubai and its good to have an idea of potential for negotiation....

In your opinions, are the villas that are advertised on this website negotiable but a similar amount, or would you say that the new prices already reflect a drop from where they where previously?

keep looking is all i can suggest then, some of my work colleagues have recently negotiated around 15% discounts to what they were previously paying.

villas have registered the biggest drop compared to apartments.

Yep, did the math, and I know what should happen in the real world. BUT why aren't they lowering the rent then?! I'm starting to think that some of the landlords rather keep the villas empty than lowering the rent...

86,000 people left in November, buildings have remained vacant for the best part of a year, newly constructed buildings are nearing completion.........do the math.

It is a good question, unless we don't recover from the global recession next year, your wishes might come through to many.
