Is there an explanation as to why the apartments in Athletes Village for the Doha Asian Games near the Fire Brigade Station un occupied? It is criminal that in a time that there is a shortage of good accommodation that apartments which were built for the thousands of athletes is left un occupied and not put to use. Is there any reason for this??

Am pretty much to this site.

The real reason y the flats are kept unoccupied is coz these flats are gonna b demolished and luxury apartments r gonna b built on them.

So basically, the initial plan of handing over these apartments to HMC has been cancelled.

This is happening with the consent of the Big Brother & the nationals.

If u know who am referring to.

So the best thing i would advice everyone to do is keep mum and pay higher rents or get outa dis country like wat am gonna do.

Coz dis place is gonna go down for sure.

Trust me.

Am known as the negotiator for a lot of things and have access to high powered nationals. Dats Y !!!

Cheers.

The Govt dun care how high the rental rises, hoping as high as possible. So people will buy property instead of renting. Estate agents happily continue suck blood from public, with Govt 'silence consent'.

The Medical City would have been a huge relief.. had they had at least 5 to 6 Highrises of 20stories each.

But right now if there are 4000 flats empty they will be occupied within a week. At least there will be some choice but only for a few days.

I really wish that pass some law that all new Q-company/govt. resident buildings be towers. As they have the funds to easily build these.

10 New residential highrises every year would offset somewhat the rent prices. But then Highrises brings with them their own problems like waste disposal, sewage, water etc.

Even if we were to average out around 4000 families moving in, it would make a difference to the real estate market.

Question is, when is that going to happen or are the land lords going to let it happen??

The only other hope is 1000 or so Units which Barwa Real Estate Company is building for completion in the year 2008....

Basically everything looks better in 2008 for Qatar..

- Qtel monopoly will end

- More currently built apartments should be completed to ease pressure on demand

- The corniche buildings/highrises would be completed - maybe these commercial buildings can be converted to residential buildings :-) hehe

- somewhere close to building the Qatar-Bahrain causeway so that i can get bck to Bahrain by car rather than suffer with Qatar Airways.

Actually pretty scared of Qatar Airways expansion cause all the good accomodations/buildings have been taken over by Qatar Airways!!!! Buy the A380's to stay in em!!!!

Yes, you're right that their purpose is to house medical staff. But I guess what most people are thinking is that the villas and apartments throughout Doha that are currently occupied by medical staff will become empty when they relocate to the Hamad Hospital accomodation.

Hopefully it will be soon as it should make some impact on the cost of rent for those about to sign a lease.

I was an Athletes Services Supervisor in the Village. These Appartments are furnished and I think if I can still remember some of them have kitchens, but anyway...They are not for the public...The small appartments will be for Bachelor Doctors at Hamad Hospital and the Big ones will be for Doctors with families.

So if anyone is waiting and hoping to get an appartment there....

FORGET IT!!!

It has been planned already ages ago, if they still stick to the same plan.

I took a walk through them prior to Asian games and I'm pretty sure that each apartment is 3 bedrooms with kitchen, bathroom and hall.

During Asian Games we put over 15,000 people into these buildings, but that was with a few people to each room, and not one each, so the overall capacity could be more or less than this number depending on how they are configured.
