Young family of 4 on 14,000/per month
I wanted to ask is it possible for a family of 4 to live well on 14,000 per month. Please keep in mind that out housing is 100% paid. We own a vehicle and receive an allowance for it monthly. We have 2 children but they are very young so not school age. Our tickets and healthy care is provided. Please give honest feedback we are a young couple and just want to make the right decision as we have two young children to consider. Anyone with children can you please share your personal experience.
Jen.
You are very welcome. If you need to know anything else dont hesitate to get in touch. Good luck to you both for the new job and the safe arrival of your new baby :-).
My hubby will be there in July. But I will be there in october as I am delivering my second child in august. Thank you so much for answering my questions. I really appreciate it.
Mmmmmmm, not to sure, it might be okay if it has already been done.
As for the housing at education city, again I am not to sure as I do not live near there. As long as you are on a compound I am sure it will be fine. So when is the big move?
We are canadians and have been living in saudi for the past 3 years. Before coming my hubby had to get his degrees certified by the government and stamped also our marriage certificates. Do you think that we will have to do it again? Also I wanted to ask you do you know anything about the accommodations at the educational city as that is where we will be living. Thank u so much for all your responses you have really helped me out.
Its to prove you are really married and the cert is not a fake. As its a muslim country you are not allowed to be here as a couple if not married.
I sent ours off before before coming and they were posted to Qatar as it took around 4 weeks to do. We then found out my husbands education and Open Universety certs needed to be attested too and as we were already here we found it to be very costly.
Thanks for the advice I will make sure to get my son on the list for a school as soon as I get there. And yes the schooling for our children is 100% covered so we are ok there. As for the marriage cert. I'm a little confused why do you have to get it attested? We weren't told anything about this from my hubby's employer.
You will need to get the eldest childs name down at a school as soon as possible as the waiting lists are VERY long. Then your child will have to have an assesment to be accepted! Also you should see if you will get school fees as they are very high too. DESS is 26,000 per year, I think Park House is around 24,000. It will take up a lot of your salary if you have to pay them yourselves.
Another tip is getting your marriage cert and kids birth certs attested at home as this is a must and will be easier and cheaper done while you are at home than sending everything off when you arrive.
No sorry I should have been specific. The vehicle isn't coming from Canada it will be provided upon arrival. As for spending habits we try to travel twice a year. We are not extravagant people. I don't shop a lot. We do go out to eat once a week. I will however look into classes for my son, like swimming or musical lessons but that is about it. As for memberships to clubs thats a no. We will not be paying any utilities. Ad for schools are children are 2 and a new born so we don't to worry about schools although it is 100% covered at age 3.
Could you live well on that at home? Will you be resident or non-resident in Canada? If resident, you'll still be paying taxes (and reaping none of the benefits like healthcare up to 6 months after you return to Canada).
It is not advisable to bring a Canadian spec vehicle to this climate, the seals and belts will dry out quickly and the AC is not up to the environment. Also, if it is older than 5 years, it will not be allowed in the country. Further, if it has a computer aided system, be aware that the diagnostic equipment here may not work on a North American vehicle.
Live well? Do you dine out often, take lots of holidays, need the latest fashions, want a membership to a hotel/beach club? It all adds up, very quickly. Food is more expensive here as well. Will you be paying your own utilities - AC costs can be expensive if you're cooling the entire house all the time.
As for schools, they too can be expensive when the time comes (and hard to find a place for a child - some people start more than a year in advance of their need for a place).

You should have put this in the Questions Section..anyways..since you have posted it here,,here's what i can tell.
I understand, 14k is your basic salary as everything else seems to be paid for.
14k excluding the housing falls under "above average" or even "good" category as per my view.
Iam positive you'l be able to live happily & save as well with this salary, however still depends on ur spending habits.
All the best.
