BMW x6 2013 or Nissan Patrol 2013?

BMW x6 2013 or Nissan Patrol 2013 - which to go for ?(both are around 250-300k)?

I've seen a fair amount of reviews on youtube but would like to get a better perspective from others as well as owners.

Is the difference between a 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder practically useful in Doha?

I would also appreciate if owners of both vehicles would critically comment on their use so far.
Thanks for any advice .

Thanks.
John

Thanks for the replies guys, btw its for my old man not me. He uses a bm 525 atm & a land cruiser. From what ive seen in Doha, more women than men drive the X6? nothing wrong with that though.

The X6 is more like a luxury vehicle for a 25-40 age group. I assume this because of being a 4 seater with the endless boot space (for long distance travels etc) and its not exactly a suv - its a mix of an suv and a coupe.

Patrol on the other hand doesn't look really luxurious but looks ok for an suv.

any recommendations of other (semi) luxury suv that have a decent resale value too?

John.. this is a no brainer... X6 is much superior car... you don't need to read anything.. being a guy you should know that.. and I am also pretty sure that X6 cost more money....as for the maintenance your first 3 years are covered... and they don't break that easily. If you want off road - then buy a landcruiser.. but again I dont recommend going off road... just breaks the car very fast unless you are multi millionair who is bored in Doha.

Thanks Ruksana, what would you main negatives be with an X5 and the positives :)?

Thanks White knight, yeah i saw top gears review but i got the impression that he was completely dismissing the vehicle (or maybe that's how Jeremy clarkson is).

Yeah zain, your right zero maintenance cost for 3 or 5 years, plus their service is also good.

The downside i see with the X6 is

- the rear window is really small

- 4 seater and its got too much of boot space.

- the x6 is mainly a vehicle for a (newly wed) couple ?(i

suppose)

but its a good luxury vehicle.

I dont know if it can be used at all for off-roads as compared to the patrol.

And the downside with the patrol is the rear light which completely spoil the look.

These are the only two luxury +resale value ones i could think of. but im not completely sure of the x6 resale value although i hear it has a good resale value.

I have X5 and its simply superb...Very less maintainance as any new vehicle on road. But if you prefer to go off-road, or sand dunes..then Nissan or toyota landcruiser would be better option. There isn't much depressiation as you think for BMW.

If you are buying new or slightly used then I would recommend to go for BMW X6. BMW maintenance costs 0..yes ZERO for the first 3 years and then you can renew it again for another 3 years. All you have to do is put petrol and change tyres when needed..everything else is part of maintenance. Also, BMW is more luxurious, sporty and have better presence on road.

Nissan is good for Doha, best resale value. Best in class

x6 is also fine but its hard to find reseller plus maintenance is expensive due to its luxury nature. I will recommend you to view TOP GEAR episode on X6.
