The IKEA experience.

First of all, Me and my wife are big fan of IKEA and have managed to purchase from IKEA UAE and IKEA KSA earlier. So, we were happy that IKEA is now here in Qatar as well.

Just want to share my experience with IKEA Qatar as it was very disappointing.

Yesterday I went there around 11:30 AM to order a wardrobe and bed. I already made up up my mind about what to buy and what customizations do I need in my wardrobe.

So, first of all, I had to wait for ~10 minutes to get the attention of the service personnel so that I will explain to him what I want and he will create the drawing and quotation for the same.

In wardrobe, they were out of stock for the door that I wanted. So, I opted to purchase another one. Moving forward, all the shelves (two different sizes) were out of stock as well. one side of the wardrobe was in some "outside storage" area and the IKEA service personnel had to spend 15 minutes calling here and there to finally confirm where the item was and make a separate paper for advance payment.

He told me that on my way out I will have to pickup the light for the wardrobe my self from the lightning section. That light, later I found out, was also out of stock.

Then, the bed. There was one available in the self service area. So, he gave me its location and ask me to pick it myself on my way out. That bed was also not there and out of stock.

No one seems to know exactly when these items will reach the store.

After 2 and a half hours, when I came out of store, after spending more than 5K, I was not happy. I was unable to purchase the bed and the wardrobe will be half installed/half fixed.

As the bed is less than 2.5K and not part of this order, I will have to fix it myself, whenever it will be available.

IKEA should do something to resolve these problems.

Big disappointment.

Haa! i was not the only one who thought their food was bland and not worth the price i paid...said it before but TB just HAD to taste for himself :P

IKEA has its good and bads, they have just opened up so lets give them a chance. I found many things i'd go back and buy for sure...those freaking scented candles are also on the list unfortunately :P

Soniya they should have plenty of bookshelves, that is the sort of thing they do really well. Don't let us put you off. It's well worth a visit and I am sure you will enjoy. And I bet you come out with some candles as well ;)

Just leave their food well alone.

Typical Qatar business plan--take a good brand and screw it up.

As well as the others I'm happy to welcome Ikea in Doha. I would never furnish all the house from Ikea as it would be really too much :) but we bought 6 kitchens in total in different Ikeas around the world to furnish our investment properties and I am absolutely happy with them.

I went twice to Ikea in Doha and I have absolutely nothing to reproach. Yes, few things are out of stock but it s temporary. The stuff is friendly, speaking multi languages, ready to help. The services are great! Nobody to come to help you to load your kitchen working surface in France. It weights 32 kg but nobody cares how a woman will manage to take it from the shelf. We are supposed to bring it ourselves to the delivery service! Here it is great! Large parking places as well. I adored. The only thing I really DON'T recommend it is FOOD. Guys, do you really eat THIS??? It is industrial food! Welcome cancer! Think over a bit!

I opted to go at a working day around afternoon. There was no queue at the checkout counter.

out of stock items is due to the wrong planing at their end.

Everyone should know that you don't go to places like IKEA until after at least a month. There will be a mad rush to buy and I would expect IKEA to run out of stock items.

To avoid stupid lines, crazy people and out of stock items, wait....just wait and be patient. Besides, IKEA isn't all that...its furniture in a box for crying out loud.

Im not a real fan of IKEA but it seems a lot of people getting disappointed during there visit in the store.

Anywayz, customers might give them a chance or time to improve their service with their branch here since they are in transition stage at this time.

Finally, its not only IKEA which have an issues with customer service, its all establishment around.
