my MIL strikes again
Court fines, revokes license of expat woman in road rage incident

A court in Qatar has found a female expat driver guilty of assaulting another motorist and has fined her QR5,000, Al Sharq reports.

The woman’s car has been impounded for two months and her license revoked, the newspaper adds. According to the report, the woman was driving “at a great speed” when she was forced to slow down due to traffic. She honked at the driver in front of her, but he had nowhere to go due to roundabout traffic.
The motorist stepped out of her car and went to vehicle in front of her and started banging on the window and yelling. However the driver, an expatriate, ignored her and kept his windows rolled up. The motorist opened the door, slapped the driver and abused him verbally.

Attempts by other drivers and passersby to put an end to the aggression failed. The woman refused to return to her car and continued to assault the motorist.

Indeed Pappu. Because if they are not aware, they most certainly should not be driving a car. What I said is this :IF the system is corrupt, it needs to be talked about and rectified.

I did not say it is, others did.

Now the thing is, all this will not happen and all will stay the same. Well, most probably it will get worse.

Well Pappu, I don't agree. If the system is corrupt, it needs to be talked about.

And really Pappu, I am quite sure that most drivers know exactly what they are doing wrong. as you said before, it is not rocket science. most drivers are just rude , selfish and careless.

That is why rules do not only need to be taught, but more importantly, ENFORCED.

Bad or good is comparative. For some asking for alcohol to be available everywhere and in WC2022 specifically is considered bad here. Same goes for many other lifestyles back in some countries which are being followed, albeit clandestinely, here. Why should then Indian style of driving be considered as bad habit, if at all there is one?...:)

But that does not matter, we are in Qatar, not in India.

If the Indians in India are ok with what is going on on the streets there, that's fine. But here it is different, or at least should be.

Besides, as i said before, it is not only some Indians over here that don't follow the rules as they should be followed.

By BOXBE13• 13 Apr 2013 17:41

BOXBE13

Here ..indian license is not acceptable...it is not considered an international license...hence they need to go for class (depends on the duration alloted) and then test until they pass or an ok by the inspector

Now i agree to nomerci...bad driving or accidents has got nothing to do with nationality..the only think what i observe these days...the fresh people who get license are lacking the skills of driving..i think they are just looking ways to get passed (maybe bribe or gifts etc) rather than making their skills perfect..this is where bad driving and accident occurs.

Iam an indian driving for past 13 years in qatar...And alhamdollilah so far never had an accident...always make sure to look for my safety and others safety on road

Only thing what i hate is when people spit on the road :)

-we do learn how to tackle a roundabout which is not in a straight line what you see here a lot etc.etc.

to me it looks like,. if you can drive a round the local mosque and DOUBLE park in front of the supermarktet your granted a DL ;)

As for people who have to drive a heavy machinery but have never driven a normal vehicle in their life, how did they get selected for that position in the first place? And if the reson for their selection is the same combo as for DL above then, my response would again be the same as above.

Point is, it is easy, generally, to hit on the last and lowest step of the power chain whereas the the blame sits somewhere above in the said chain.

BG...I read that but I was more of thinking on what KR has said i.e. ultimately leading to deportation since the assaulter was an expat. Fines, revoking of licence etc cannot return the dignity of the person assaulted. So bring her in full public view, ask the guy to slap her and then deport her. Havent we read sometime back another expat woman cursing the asian guy even if he aplologised who by mistake and for a short while parked his car with his wife inside in front of her parking or something like that. Guess, such actions by some expat woman (and we most probably know who they are) needs to be curbed and IMO mere fines wouldn't help.

BTW if it's you driving up an inch behind me flashing their lights and tooting your horn when I have nowhere to go, I just want to state the obvious; I am not going to move out of your way because I have nowhere to go!

If she has been banned from driving, who the hell is it driving up an inch behind me flashing their lights and tooting their horn when I have nowhere to go now? Whoever it is they are always stalking me on the expressway.
