Hi all the best solution I have found is that there are alot of great videos on youtube now to help you develop and scan your own film. It was difficult to find a place to get the chemicals from but I found a great website that sells and ships to Qatar, I have used them twice already. It comes in a packet and you just mix it with water and it makes a 1 litre solution. https://filmphotographystore.com/collections/darkroom-supplies
It is only $20 which is well worth it as you can develop over 20 rolls of film using this. I have done it so many times and the results are amazing.
i hope this forum is still active! im a newbie with lomography and analogue camera, i really want to learn how develop my own film. I did some research and not many people do the developing and enlarging here, i message the gulfphoto and they told me that they dont develop anymore since there are less people need the service and that the chemicals are little costly. On the other hand i met a very nice ukrainian lady who helped me bring 35mm film roll and also introduced me to a guy named omesh who works at khalifa art center he collect the film for free and they develop it for 75QAR per roll every thursday but i find it costly. I went to http://www.kac.qa/index.php/film-photography/lomo and i saw some chemical developers to use if i buy maybe its cheaper plus i can develop batches. all i need to research now is how to effectively do the developing process. I hope all of us gets along and have a film community here in Qatar i really hope!!
Well still in Doha but recently I am struggling to shoot my films due to time constraints! I want to scan one film that I shot a while back. As for the darkroom I used to do it in the washroom in my old place but now this is not possible.
I am also new to Film Photography as i have been with digital for years. I own a RZ67 and i am itching to start shooting but not sure if the weather is good for the film? Very humid some days. The light and weather will definitly be better from november time with blue skies.
If theres any socials or groups please let me know and i will be happy to attend.
Also I'll be travelling to Europe in 2 weeks and I'm coming back to Doha in April - if anyone has any requests like bringing films or equipment to Doha or developing films for you and bring them here back - I will be happy to help.
Hi Frank! Any chance you're still in Doha with your darkroom equipment? I've just moved here, I'm a passionate photographer loving analogue techniques and I need a darkroom.
Hopefully, soon I can witness this myself and have the photo included on my portfolio at http://www.amandabarkerphoto.ca/birth-newborn-photography.html as photographer, I am in love with scenic shots.
Once in a while, films appears on Kodak kiosk in Landmark and in kodak city center. I bring my finished rolls to Kodak City center. I think this and gulf photo in musherieb are the only places here in Doha to have your film developed if you don't have your own dark room.
That is a great idea. we should all meet. Just PM me when. Thanks.
Hi! I shoot digital and film. I use 35mm SLR cameras. It's good to know that someone here in Doha is still into Film. Hope to meet you someday. Thanks for keeping film photography alive.
Good to hear that You are setting up a darkroom. Well Im a complete digital guy but I really would love to learn about shooting using film medium. Do you intend to start a meeting session or something where You could help some interested people?
