First security guards N now security dogs

DOHA: Owners of some garages in the Industrial Area are catching stray dogs and training them to guard their premises amid a growing number of reported cases of theft of cars and spare parts.

“I could not afford a security guard for my garage due to the soaring rent of the premise and the huge expenditure needed to run it. So I have kept a dog to scare away any thieves that may come at night,” said an operator.

Customers have complained about parts missing from their vehicles after they were left at the garages for repair, the operator added.

Visitors to the Industrial Area, meanwhile, are concerned about the growing number of dogs, which they fear might bite people or cause the outbreak of an epidemic or infectious disease as most of the stray dogs have not been immunised.

The dogs are neither registered nor “expensive to keep”, which is why they have become popular with garage owners, according to Al Sharq.

and well taken care of as well. Seems a far better prospect then for em canines than the fate many unfortunate stray dogs suffer.

Cars locked up in garages and parts going missing, mechanics and garage owners instead of reparing cars are training dogs, tremors and earh shaking all the time.. looks like a major tsunami is on the way.

I was just wondering whether the customers were complaining about parts missing or their PETS missing. If the parts were missing then it must have been the guys at the garages who have been stealing and selling them off back to other garages out there or to the same car owner again. If it was the Pets that are missing then now we know that its the garage owners who have been stealing them

Looks like the garage owners at the Industrial area have stopped repairing cars and other vehicles and are now into training dogs. No wonder we see so many badly mantained cars on the road and on the side of the roads this days. Time to open a dog supply agency

Perhaps the Municipality Vet Service would be able to immunise (and sterilize) these dogs to prevent disease and more dogs. They could also monitor them for health and living conditions as the ASPCA and RSPCA do on an ongoing basis.

OOPS, sorry, there are still ongoing issues with the labour camps living conditions etc. So not likely to happen.

Why not lodge a complaint to the police....So they consider dogs to solve their missing parts....Looks like they are running illegal garages else why not approach the police....something fishy

Yes they use them even in third world countries. Dogs are so close to their owner they would never ask NOC.

Dogs are commonly used to "guard" such properties in developed countries..
