Loads of fun events planned for Eid
All major venues hosting Eid al-Fitr celebrations have made final preparations for the festivities, lining up a variety of activities and attractions.
On the first day of Eid, Hyatt Plaza will launch several activities in the Jungle Zone. “Introducing Qatar’s first indoor ‘air track’, 7D theatre and many other exciting attractions, Jungle Zone will be an ideal destination for kids to enjoy their Eid holidays,” said the mall’s corporate communications executive, Fawaz Mohamed.
Designed by international theme park consultants, the park has undergone a complete renovation to add more fun and excitement, says Mohamed.
Like other malls in Qatar, Hyatt Plaza has partnered with Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) to host a series of fun-filled shows and activities, which will run from 2pm to 9.30pm.
These include parades, Japanese drummers, a Popeye ‘play’, music festivals, the Angry Birds show, magic shows, Zuma-Zuma, Rola-Rola, Snow White and other attractions, to be held from August 8 to 17.
Meanwhile, Katara - the Cultural Village - will host spectacular fireworks displays from August 8 (6.45pm), according to a source who refused to be named. “It will last for 30 minutes, three times per night, with an interval of about an hour each,” he added. “Those on the Corniche will also be able to watch it.”
Besides the fireworks shows, people can also enjoy watching a lighting show in the beach area, he said. Those who want to stay in the amphitheatre can view the entire show on a widescreen. The source said their team has spent nearly two weeks preparing for the much-awaited show.
Meanwhile, Villaggio and City Center Doha have decorated their main corridors with hanging lights - a way of welcoming families and visitors during the Eid festivities.
Thousands of residents are also expected to visit Souq Waqif for numerous events and shows like Ballet On Ice and Comedy Comic. It will also host the String Walker, Juggler, Pet (dog, cat, parrot, monkey) shows, Bubble and magic shows, Teeter and Russian Bar shows.
Some restaurants, especially the new ones, will offer special menus for all during the festivity.
Souq Waqif’s media relations officer Ali al-Naama said the media centre located in Gold Souq (first Floor) will be open from 4pm to 10.30pm (August 9 to 14).
QTA recently announced that Wanasa Entertainment City at Doha Exhibition Centre (DEC) was all set for the Eid celebrations, hosting an array of attractions and shows such as circus, games, theatre, presentations by cartoon characters, restaurants and 150 shopping stalls.
Celebrating ahead of the Eid holidays, Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF)’s has partnered with Qatar Centre for Voluntary Work to urge residents to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Its volunteers have distributed sweets (in candy boxes) made with healthy ingredients to some 3,000 families in the area.

Ah, why pity us all singles or bachelors. May be OK for the ones in IA but not otherwise...:)
MM - Bachelors are no kids to lick candies
Pity on them as they are overlooked/harassed for being singles from all directions
