Attitude of men In doha...

westernindoha
By westernindoha

I am a man and I am posting a forum to say how shocked I am but the behavior of men towards woman in doha.
Particularly Arabs and most particularly egyptians ( ya ya come and call me whatever you want, it seems everybody noticed they are the worst for this particular problem).

For the first time I went out in doha this week end, despite I had been warned by friends (woman and man) I have been really shocked by how mens look or I shoudl say stare at woman and go bother them with their phone in hands asking for numbers every 5min.
basically, if you a good looking girl, you can't go out in peace here.

The result is...woman are very much on the defensive, and group of girls hesitant to go out.

The worst is, the same kind of scene happen in macdonald, in carrefour...Arabs men and some white boy too act so cheap here !!! Seriously, get some pride and at least if you go talk to a woman do it with some class, and if you look at her, do it discreetly not in a the nasty hungry man way.

LOl I watch my word. But I watch TV also ! We can all see what a wonderful country is egypt at the moment !

God give the rulers the population deserve (written in the quran) so I guess your population must not be that good!

And I say it again! Not all egyptians are craving woman in Middle east, but a great proportion of them are indeed, married, or not...

As far as this issue is concerned that if a women is beautiful she cant go out in peace here..

same is the case with the Handsome men..ladies do keep staring at them also..

The difference is that the handsome men like if ladies stare at them but women mind if somebody stares..

so is this all about favoritism? lol

I wanted to start this thread also

"attitude of women in Doha"

two days back one "X" woman with her woman fried or sister or relative was in the restaurant with their sons and I was with my wife, this "X" woman really did not let me enjoy my food as she kept staring and looking at me every 3 minutes, dump it, she is really awful and have no respect towards us, I say to this "X" woman or any other woman please respect a man who is there with his family and even if there was a man is not married, this man might not like to get involved with women.

By happygolucky• 22 Aug 2013 08:53

I guess we are mostly done with the attitude of men...now can we discuss attitude of women in Doha on this thread or should I open a new thread. With the permission of WID, I would however propose to allow me to do that here so that comparisons would be easy and then may be we can see why some men behave the way they (no condoning) and are only men guilty of doing it or do women also embarass men at times...:)

I can't agree more with you Fathima, woman should not let them go so easily, and even decent man should make remarks to those pervert. This is how it's going to change.

Or maybe just send them back to their country would be easier lol.

Actually last time in a supermarket, 4 guys were looking in an outrageous way at a friend who was with me, she was decently dress.

I went to them and asked them if they wanted a picture, 3 of themn just looked down and one was trying to be funny saying I want a picture with you (to me) i made it very clear He should just walk away before I get really upset and that's what he did (i'm 6'2 that helps maybe).

That any man can ever imagine behaving this way is acceptable. Yes it happens all over the world, but that doesn't make it ok or tolerable. In fact it's a social evil that we should all work against and not try to excuse the perpetrators.

By FathimaH• 20 Aug 2013 15:21

It shouldn't matter what a woman wears, no man has the right to treat her with disrespect and he should know where to draw the line. There are Muslim women in certain non Muslim lands who have stopped wearing hijab claiming the people don't treat them right and their lives are endangered. Is this ok? No! Rather a woman should be allowed to dress as she wishes, within the laws of the land of course, and still not be abused.

Personally I have had very disturbing experiences, as Miss Mimi explained, being hit on and followed by men, though I am dressed in the jilbab(the head to toe kind) and wear niqab. Why? Surely my bespectacled eyes and eczema riddled hands cannot possibly be that hot!

@western -Same City !! But what I found the places in western doha are the expats primarily, wearing the intimidating dresses, which attract the gazers attention.

Since western and far eastern expats have liberal culture hence here perverts think to give it a try.

That's the reason I didnot mention about abaya or veil in the comments as(sorry to say) these words are a bit allergic to liberal minds.

But it should be borne in mind that any gazer who purposely gazes on veiled or with abaya could be a pervert.

Most of the Veiled and Abaya clad Women Attract a glance of appreciation for protecting their modesty and are receive a respecting glance as against your understanding as candy and meat.

With apologies for my English grammar,

Woman dressed modestly will never attract the vulgar eyes.

Those women, who venture out with exposing dress ultimately invite the hungry eyes and flies.

I would not quote the Islamic teachings here in as, every Muslim(if that gazer happens to be Muslim) knows what's his action to be when such situation arises but why to complain if you are moving out with inviting/exposed dress.

Surely, an uncovered toffee attracts more flies than a nicely packed one.

Fitandactive don't be afraid to come to doha because of this.

At the end of the day i guess woman get used to it and avoid some specific place.

But keep in mind:

-you won't be able to dress like in manilla (and that's a good thing!)

-When you go anywhere some guys will be staring at you with a nasty look.

-When you wait for a taxi more than 2 minutes you will probably have some guy talking to you

-(...)

But eventually, you will get used to it and start having a defensive attitude towards all men. Yeaah...Sad stuff ...

But it doesn't reach the level of being touched or anything...they are coward pervert at least ! :-)

I totally agree with westernindoha. It is not women's fault, but some Arab men are indeed very vulgar. And for those of you linking it to religion then please think of all the atheists in the west and how they do not perceive women as pieces of meat, but as human beings. It has to do with how you were raised and not which god you believe in. It is natural for men to be attracted to women and vice versa, however it is the way they portray it that makes the difference between right and wrong.

The reason they are so brave to do that is because we live in this country. They can do it here but do they have guts to do it in your country? Nobody will protect them from there. But here they can do whatever they want as long as they have alibis.

For all the girls here. Please avoid wearing any provocative dress if you will just go to any souq or planning to eat in Indian Resto or any Arab Resto.

To all the girls, Don't get me wrong, while I'm disgusted by the guys staring at girls like meat(modestly dressed or not) I still think woman should dress modestly in other place than Clubs.

It is not acceptable to go to a mall or fast food showing about 80% of your flesh.

But even if they do so, they should not be stared at with desire but with a look meaning "you don't belong here".

Anyway, the result is that even gentlemen needs to go through a very suspicious or haughty atttude from girls.

First of all, even if a woman expose herself, when you not a dog, it's quite easy to not look at her like is she is some kind of steak and that you starving since a month.

And let's say you can't help it, at least look discreetly.

Second, I am not only talking of woman exposing themselves! Once I was out with a girl covered with a long dress, shoulder covered and all but still...dogs were looking...They just disgust me, and once wanted to knock one down.

Guys, mimas is right. In fact the internet and the women's desire to be modern and free by exposing freely, knowing that there there is no part on her body that does not give taste to men, they expose and present it most attractively to divert attention towards them. What is the complaint then for . . .

If you are so particular then ask your women to coverup and dress decently and do not spoil the minds of men who don't really like to do so, but are distracted/attracted.
