Doha Traffic Jamz

By shehabi

It's the 2nd week for me in Doha and it's the worse traffic jam I ever seen in my life.

But the other side of the story or the positive side, I use it as a picnic I have all the supply from water and food and give extra houer or two to arrive to my destination and I enjoy the ride by doing all my emails from the iPad while I see some cars trying to fly left, right and center.

This the first time in my life toke me 2 hours to finish 5 Km distance!!! I am missing my motorcycle :(

@gordonhll: I go daily from wakrah to Airport it took 20mins if there is too much traffic other wise it tooks only 10 to 12 minutes and its also depends upon your vehicle average speed :p

Mandi...are you surprised? Look around you...how many people can you count that are on the mobile (which is illegal, but , obviously, nobody cares)by just casually glancing around while on the road? I counted 15 yesterday.

Traffic jams? What are you talking about.

The Gulf Times had a front page story quoting officials from the Traffic Department saying that there are no traffic jams.

Are you saying that the Gulf Times just prints crap?

A Big Thank You to the traffic police for looking after the smooth movement of traffic in and around Doha, yesterday I was scared of going to the Hospital from Al Khor during peak hour but due to good control it was a smooth ride and reached on time and way back without any delay, enroute saw almost 5 traffic cops at different locations manning the traffic standing in very hot sun, Thank you once again.

I thought the execuse for not biking would be the burning sun or safosticating humidity......but rain that might happen for a maximum of 2 weeks.......what a good execuse.

However, I have to admit that, for me at least, it's mainly laziness rather than any illogical execuses.

Omais, I think the construction in the corniche has reduced the traffic jam as all the round abouts in the corniche are closed so there is no interruption from the opposite side through round abouts.

It was a smooth ride first month, took me 45 minutes straight from Garraffa to my work at Mesaieed but today it took me one and half hours, double the time just because the schools have opened up.. I guess tomorrow I will leave home at 6 instead of 6.30

The road works are everywhere, bad planning, bad management.

Offices should start at 7.

Schools at 8.

i dont think it will relax we need to have a ban on female driving license that will reduce 30% of the traffic

The traffic is more worse offlate bcoz the construction going on in COrniche. Once its done then I believe there will be some relaxation.
