No justice for children, no justice for women. This still continues and is supported by those in power. The story is shocking but has to be heard.

If we censor it we condem more young girls to abuse and death.
-----------

An eight-year-old Yemeni girl has died of internal sexual injuries after spending her wedding night with a husband five times her age.

The girl, identified as Rawan, is believed to have suffered tearing of her genitals and a uterine rupture, Kuwaiti daily newspaper Al Watan reports.

It says Kuwaiti activists have called for action against the man, who is 40, as well as the girl’s family for allowing the marriage.

The girl died in the tribal area of Hardh in northwestern Yemen, which borders Saudi Arabia.

Gulf News quotes blogger Angry Man as posting the husband is “an animal who deserved to be punished severely for his crime.”

“All those who supported such a crime should also be punished,” he added.

Al Bawaba reports over a quarter of young girls in Yemen are married before the age of 15.

It points the country passed a law in February 2009 setting the minimum age of marriage at 17, but that it was repealed after conservative lawmakers declared it “un-Islamic”.

In 2010 a 13-year-old Yemeni girl who was forced into an arranged marriage died five days after her wedding when she suffered an internal rupture, a local human rights organisation declared.

Ilham Mahdi al Assi died in Yemen's Hajja province, the Shaqaeq Arab Forum for Human Rights told the AFP in a statement quoting a medical report.

Who are we talking here about 1) THE YEMENI GIRL OR 2) ABOUT OUR BELOVED PROPHET MARRIAGE TO BIBI AYESHA (R.A).

talking about the yemeni girl...Innalilah wa inna ilahi rajihoon...Blame the parents and the beast for it

Coming to our beloved prophet...One thing you all should know...Marriage is done legally after approval from both sides and both persons...Same way the marriage between our rasool and bibi ayesha took place..About the age Allah waalam or leave it to Allah (swt) as Allah know the right :)

"If we look at the issue taking 614 as the year that Surah Qamar was revealed, Aisha would have been born at least eight years before the prophetic mission, or in 606. If we accept 618, then the year of birth would have been 610; this event alone makes it impossible for her to have been 9 when she married."

"This date refers to the early days of Islam. For it is known that Aisha's sister Asma, who was born in 595, was 15 when she became a Muslim [11]. This indicates the year 610, when the Prophet started to receive the revelation and this then shows that Aisha was at least 5, 6 or 7 that day and that she was at least 17 or 18 when she married the Prophet in Medina."

I strongly condemn such a barbaric act.

Parents and the so called hubby should be tried in court with multiple counts such as child abuse, third degree murder or Voluntary manslaughter etc .

Quran is a book a signs and signs are same for everyone regardless of what language they speak. Hence religion (Islam) is not man made or you can't show me a single similar man who did the same in 1400 years.

Aisha was at least nine or ten years of age at the time of betrothal, and fourteen or fifteen years at the time of marriage.

In Islam even watching small kids with lusty eyes is also haram.

When will this end? I second Marco.

Who cares what Ayisha's age was.... the bottom line is if a girl less than 18... or at least 16... it is a no brainer she should not be engaging in any sexual activities. Times have changed... and society has changed.... and religion should not be used to committ immoral acts... why would a grown up man need to sleep with a baby.. why would a 40 year old man need to marry an 8 year girl.. this is simply absurd... and criminal.

And Aisha had in fact also reached the age of puberty when their marriage was consummated. She was a woman not a child and certainly not eight years old!

And yes the government and the so called scholars must shoulder much blame for not disallowing such criminal acts taking place. To call this a marriage is itself a crime. For a marriage to be valid the girl must be of sound and mature mind and give her consent. What consent can a child of eight give?

What makes this case all the more painful to me is that this girl was the age of my daughter..very saddening indeed cos I know how innocent and trusting children of this age are!

My heart truly aches at the plight of this young girl. As a woman and as a mother of a daughter I can't imagine what drives parents to allow such marriages to take place.. Poverty and the lack of knowledge yes..but how bad must your situation be and how cold must be your heart that you give your daughters in marriage to such men knowing they cannot handle it.

And as for those who use Islam to justify it, they have no case. Because the marriage of our Prophet to Aisha was clearly an exception, such that our Prophet himself never permitted any of his companions from marrying such young women, as per authentic hadiths. Aisha was in fact blessed with maturity beyond her years.

People like you are hilarious. If the Quran was written in Arabic you're not satisfied. If it's written in English you're not satisfied. If it's written in Urdu you're not satisfied. Even if it was written in all languages you still wouldn't be satisfied.

The article doesn't say anyone was defending the husband :) Nor does it say if the husband is getting some sort of punishment. In my opinion it was also her families fault. They are the ones who forced a child into marriage.

when will this end? hmm, As far as the Muslim world is concerned, child abuse (child bride ) will end when

1- Muslim govt's man up and make serious laws towards banning the practice of child marriage and hand out some serious punishments people who break that.

2-When Muslim scholars from around the world decide to speak up and come out with the truth.

Marco, thanks...Thanks a lot. This is what I was,am fighting and will fight for. 16/19 yrs old, I am OK with that as girls have passed puberty age by then.I married my wife when she was 19. It is high time, some of us join forces and urge our scholars to seriously address this issue as this is the main issue some 'Islamophics' bring on the table. As a result of this Islam takes the rap.

By Maccessory• 9 Sep 2013 22:23

Palancole you are absolutely right. No one has evidence of her exact age at marriage nor if there were others who married 6 year-old girls. I bet the hadiths that say she was 6 years-old when she got married were just made up to pervert the image of the Prophet and Islam simultaneously.

But as it says in the Quran: Their intention is to extinguish Allah´s Light (by blowing) with their mouths: But Allah will complete (the revelation of) His Light, even though the Unbelievers may detest (it).

By MarcoNandoz-01• 9 Sep 2013 22:19

Palancole/suliman:

In fact there's a great misunderstanding on the many Muslim scholar's part as well as a wide section of Muslims when it comes to the age of Aisha to the prophet being at the age of 9 which had led to the belief that child marriage / child bride is is OK in Islam.

However, this unfortunate popular opinion goes straight against some serious historical facts as well as a bunch of other authentic Islamic traditions that if studied in-depth will actually reveal Aisha was at least 16-19 years of old when she married the prophet.

Maccessory, I like your comment. This is what I mean. I read from some religious sources Ayesha was 19 when she was married. I like your use of the word 'perhaps'. Within 200 years of his death or before, none of the followers of Mohammad or their progeny has been reported of doing same. WHY? WHERE ARE THE SIMILAR FACTS EVIDENCE?

What we need is a meeting of world's scholars to address this issue and prove beyond reasonable doubts that Ayesha was 6 when she was married. Then go on a global course of informing people. I bet not too many scholars would like this idea of mine.

By Maccessory• 9 Sep 2013 21:52

Palancole there are many different viewpoints on the age Aisha was when she was married, some scholars even say she was 15 at the time. There's too many different views no one can be sure of how old she was. But the important thing is that she was considered a consenting adult having hit puberty and no one forced her into marriage. Back then it was also a tradition to marry off girls at a young age so perhaps they were more "mature" in terms of physical structure and mentality.

By Palancole• 9 Sep 2013 21:52

Sulie, I do respect your right to believe. I believe Ayesha was young when she married. I am not arguing with you about this. I am just putting my point of view regarding the age. How easy it is for Satan to tempt even the wisest man to insert/forge/ or tell a lie about the Greatest man on Earth. Satan tempted so many as to divide the religion then. How easy it is for him to have so many lies fabricated against Mohammad!

A religion that fought for women's right and child infanticide cannot promote child abuse. It does not make sense.

Why would Physical structure and Maturity be different between then and now? I see kids of nowadays more mature than I was. Do a timeline and look at the times each Imam and Hadith collectors appeared and the gap between them and ask your conscience if there is not a slim chance that many Hadiths have been forged. Can anyone prove beyond reasonable doubt that Ayesha was 9 when she had sex?

Sad news, May she rest in peace

Palancole ,, It is for sure that prophet Mohammad -Peace and blessings be upon him- married "Ayesha" in the age of 7 and slept with her at the age of 9.

“It is reported from Aisha that she said: The Prophet entered into marriage with me when I was a girl of Seven … and at the time [of joining his household] I was a girl of nine years of age.”

And she didn't face any problems, knowing that their Physical structure and Maturity were different and happen in a younger age, and she stayed alive after the prophet death.

By Palancole• 9 Sep 2013 21:21
Palancole

My question is: Why on earth would they make babies when they know they cannot afford it?

I read how people are criticising Islam and ridiculing prophet Muhammad on various websites. Let God burn me in Hell, I will never believe Mohammad had sex with a 9 year old girl, no matter how many hadiths them Scholars bring forward. Let's test those hadiths in a court of Law based on the Law of Evidence.

They lied about Muhammad and forged hadiths to support their vile intentions. How many Scholars are aware of it and kept quiet. Mods, if you want to ban me from QL, so be it. I will say what others are afraid to say.

RIP, Man poisons religion, not the reverse as you wrote in your signature line.
