Importing your pets when moving to Qatar
Hi there,
First of all; Great Site... just came accross it, registered immediately and love it already.
On the 27th of March, my girlfriend and I will be moving from Amsterdam in the Netherlands to Doha. We have both been offered jobs for the next 12 months, and I must say we are really REALLY exited.
I have a question though... We were planning on bringing our 2 pet cats to Doha, or better have them flown in, once we are settled. But there isn't a single office or embassy that can tell what the rules and regulations are on that subjectm or even if it is possilble at all to bring pets into the country?
So I was wondering if anyone here can tell me a bit more, or share similar experiences?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there! I see this link hasn't been used for a long while. Hope someone can advise. I am moving to Qatar in Nov 09 I am bringing my cat with me. She has a Pet passport which states you have to have the rabies injection every 3 yrs. Some countries require you to have them done every year IE: Spain! Does anyone know what the requirements are for Qatar? Thanks in advance!
Regards Leanne.
Hi Amsterdam,
We live in London at present and are moving to Qatar in August. I'm starting a job at the Uni and asked them about bringing our cat. They sent me a form to fill in (from their Dept of Agriculture) and said I should bring it with a Vet certificate to prove our cat is healthy.
Hope you settle in okay and this helps, perhaps you can ask your employer to get you the Qatari paperwork too,

Hi Amsterdam,

They will give you a quote and details in a matter of hours. It's easy to bring them in providing you get the paperwork done.
Seeing as they are cats, may I suggest you try and bring them with you directly on board the flight in the cabin if you can. It's less costly than arranging cargo.
Good Luck and enjoy Qatar!
