Cancelling a visa - Is it possible?

Hi Friends,

I have been reading the notings in this website for quite sometime. I was due to arrive Doha by this week, but it has got postponed.

What happened is like this: I had agreed to join a company there & they have prepared my work visa. Just after that I got another offer from another company in Doha for a much bigger amount. I wanted to take the 2nd offer & have requested the 1st company to cancel my visa. They have reluctantly agreed but I will have to reimburse their expenses.

Can someone who is aware about local laws & visa regulations, may advise me whether it is possible to cancel my visa by the 1st company & then the 2nd one applies for it afresh? Or is there a waiting period in between? I have not yet traveled to Qatar & my passport has not been stamped consequently.

I will be thankful for some serious advice from any well informed person.

First of all tell what kind of visa has employer issued for you . If it is Business visa then no issue you just wait for automatically cancellation and inform second employer for new visa process.

I dont think so if your first employer not ready to provide NOC just wait for 3 months and start work with another .

first you need to come to qatar with that entry visa then obtain a NOC from the 1st party and then provide your passport and NOC to new company for visa processing

i am very sure about it as i am doing the same

Hi function,

Thanks for the feedback. But I need to highlight one thing: is the same 'no objection' issue applicable even for a person who has not arrived at Qatar? As I said they have obtained my visa, but I am yet to come to the country & my passport has not yet been stamped.

Can someone highlight please?

Rgds

I'm told that you can transfer your work visa from one company to another if your current employer signs a letter of no objection. Then all is fine. If they do not, and they cancel your visa, you must leave Qatar, and cannot return for two years. Normally the rule is that you have to be with your current employer/sponsor for at least a year before transferring/cancelling. I'm not sure if they're are different rules for different nationalities.

I'm not an expert, so someone correct me if I'm wrong.
