Hi everyone, hope someone can help us...

My husband is currently in the process of securing employment with CNA-q. We are actively looking for employees of the college in hopes of corresponding with them about their employer.

We are a young family from Canada with 2 children aged 8 and 6. We are very excited about the prospect of living overseas and provide a new and exciting life for our family.

So, if anyone out there works for CNA, please respond. We desperately want to know what it's all about... i.e. salaries, living arrangements

CNA has a good reputation in Nl...Sometimes, but lacks some serious leadership in Qatar. From management, HR etc. The inability of leadership team to make sound judgement is much to be desired. The detorian of the Al Jazeera compounds and lack of repairs is also unfortunate. If you have school aged children the canadian school under CNA-q is pathetic. Its a very dilluted Alberta curriculum and has a high turnover of teachers.

Yes there's a kids' ice hockey league which meets in City Centre Mall icerink on Friday mornings. Many CNAQ employees are active socially: A lot of the are active in the Doha Players (see other threads) and there's a Canadian Ball every year. You'll find them when you get here. In fact you can't miss them.

Thank you both for replying back to me.... We found the whole tax situation for the job quite odd, that is, still having ties, financially, back to Canada but i guess for some it is still worth it.

We are not from Newfoundland. Actually we are from Ontario and they seem to be quite interested in my husband's qualifications. So hopefully, it will work out.

If the CNA-q employees aren't subscribers to this site, where would they be? Any suggestions?

Oh yeah, one more question? Is it true there is organized hockey in Qatar for boys aged 8???? If that is true, my son is in for sure..lol

Thanx for your thoughts

I suspect there aren't any CNA subscribers to this forum, but the ones I know seem happy enough in their pleasant compounds with enough salary to drive good quality cars and live well. Because of the (unusual here) tax situation mentioned above, CNAQ doesn't take non-Canadians. In fact I don't think they take non-Newfies. (I applied a couple of years ago and the cheeky buggers said I was under-qualified. What they meant was, I wasn't a Canuck.)

You may want to check their website. They provided much info to me. A few years ago I was offerred a position there but as a Canadian I would have had to pay both Cdn and NF taxes on income and it just wasn't worth it. That's probably changed by now.

CNA has a good reputation in Canada among the post-secondary crowd.
