Climbing, Archery and shooting sports

Hi folks,

As I will maybe (the decision will be made next week) stay for a quite long time in Doha, I have been wondering if I could continue my favourite sports over there. So, are there facilities for climbing and Archery as well as a shooting range?

And if they are there:

What range of difficulty in climbing is available?
Would I have much trouble getting my bow through customs?
Is it possible for foreigners to import / buy Handguns? Or can they be hired at the range?

I can't really help it, but the job, no better, the payment is good, so I'll just go and commute from Doha to Ras Laffan. I used to commute earlier and think I'll get used to it again rather quick. (Although driving here is apparently not that bad, from what I heard on this forum...

But again, I'm counting chickens that are not yet mine. The decision still has to be made....

Well, on the PS I am rather into Racing Games (WRC and GT4) and Tekken, Ghost Recon wasn't too bad. Graphics are just good enough for me. I don't really put that much value on that... Otherwise I am an Apple user, where I have only quite few games on my HD like The Sims and EV Nova if I should happen to be really bored.

When I will be accepted to my job down there (I shall know until the end of next week) you're of course invited to give it a try once I got settled in... I shall be working in Ras Laffan if it all goes well. I am happy as a kid on christmas morning. There have been so many things going wrong this year, and I hope at least the new job will work out. As is everybody else who is interested. I'm quite sure that if there shouldn't be a suitable range, a stretch of desert will do.

Heh, FPS are no good in PS2... You can't aim that good with the console controllers. Now with a mouse, its more like it. Its so sad they are releasing UT2k7 on E3. I mean whos gonna go buying XBOX 360 then E3.. and then waste money on buying Bluray discs for it... It just don't make sense. For killing time, BBall!!

Sorry Equinox,

But I am past this age. I have seen the real shit in Kosovo with KFOR and can't find anything interesting in shooting people. You loose the interest in this once you've been shot at and missed and shit at and hit.

I'd rather shoot paper targets just for fun and to improve my Marksmanship (used to be Sniper in Austrian Force Recon team). And I wouldn't need much for an Archery (Shooting a 60 lbs. PSE Nova Compound bow) range, only a deserted area free of people (any desert should do *lol*) a 1 inch thick straw target and the FITA Target papers which I could have sent to Qatar if needed.

BTW, I have a computer, but it's for working, writing / chatting with friends and family and keeping my music and photos around. For playing I use the PS2...

I think she means the operator at the Info Desk @ 180.

Dude, you should get a computer and play virtual FPS style games, they can be alot more fun then archery or actually having to practice marksmanship. Orrrrrrr... how good are you with darts? [;
