Morning Activities in Qatar

Hello Everybody --

Been living here in Qatar for two months. I work a long night shift which completes at six o'clock. It has been troubling only because there doesn't seem to be much open when I finally get out of work.

Does anyone have suggestions of activities of things to do in Doha between six and seven in the morning? Thank you very much!

I've been hunting around and found a few items worth mentioning, in case anyone else in a similar situation:

* Doha Zoo. Opening hours are 7:30-11:30am and 3:30-8:30pm daily except Friday mornings. Phone 468 2610.

* Breakfast by the Hotel Pools or Beach. Open early for the executives, but very accomidating to the morning adventurer. You'll practically have the whole place to yourself.

* The Corniche. Not too hot to walk around early in the morning. Gives you a chance to enjoy the dhows setting out for the day, without having to worry about rushing back to the air conditioning.

* Marketplaces. You can get a jump on some of the open-air marketplaces.

* Desert Adventures. Can get into a morning tour of the sand dunes, or go down Salwa looking for desert rock formations. Getting out in the morning lets you beat the hot afternoon heat.

dohagirl, you sound like you aren't enjoying Nova Scotia very much. Personally I think Nova Scotia has a ton of things to offer. I hope that you are taking some time to enjoy as well :)Beautiful place, wouldn't you agree? Enjoy your time!

Lol, yup I go with sleeping in the morning time! Seriously the morning time is the most boring time of the day when you're on holidays over here... well unless its the weekend and you're going to the beach or something.

I second the DQ idea...I was there at 4:30 this morning....lol It's hard enough to find stuff to do during normal hours...good luck at that hour.

OK computerguy, what else is there to do at that time of the day, anywhere in the world, even in the US, there is nothing much to do at that hour. So it seems to me that eating breakfast, reading the paper, and sleeping, are pretty good thing to do at that hour of the day. Oh, since your name is computerguy, why don’t you then get on your computer, that should make time fly!!

I'm in Nova Scotia, Canada right now and there isn't anything to do between 6 am and 7 am either, unless you want to eat breakfast or read the (yesterdays) paper. And if it's Sunday than there really isn't anything to do because everything here is closed on Sunday.

I suppose on the bright side it is cool enough to go for a walk or a jog at that time of the morning...of course it has been raining everyday for two weeks straight.
