Soccer for kids

My family may be moving to Qatar soon and I have some questions that your members maybe able to answer.

1.  Are there any groups of families who homeschool?

2.  Are there any opportunities/leagues for children ages 6-4yrs to play soccer?

3. Are the libraries children friendly?

Thanks so much for your help and patience with my questions.

There are about 18 families here I believe who are presently home-schooling.

Write to me at [email protected] and I'll give you details of who to contact.

The British Council used to have a library... I assume they still do. We used it for the kids schoolwork more than anything, until I found books that I love reading when I was a kid... 'Just William' and 'Jeeves'. Then I was hooked.

Hope its still there, it was seriously big enough to handle a few years worth of reading.

British Embassy can direct you if you can't find where it is.

Thanks for the soccer contact info. Do you know anything about swim teams for kids - both young girls and boys? Thanks

Good Morning,

I am trying to reply to RSTJONES comments on homeschooling - I would love to discuss further your recent move to Doha and how you are adjusting and if you have any advice on anything that we need to make sure we bring. We have not moved there yet but expect to move sometime this fall. I do have our school trunks packed. What curriculum do you use? I have combined several for my first/second grader and preschooler. We are also using Rosetta Stone to teach us Arabic. We were suppose to be further along by now. Just email me directly or I will try to check this site more frequent. Thanks for your help

Or buy from Alibris or Amazon which is what I do.

Doha has no good libraries or book stores, even for Arabic books. So just bring all ur needs from where u r coming from :)

yes, high standards for books that are not romances, mystery's or Stephen King. And for more than two rows of books, I would like an entire store! Sigh, I guess I'm just to picky.

Are there any libraries in Doha? I can't even find a really bookstore (Jarir does not count).

As for soccer, there are plenty of clubs, but they are for boys only.

Hi,

My family and I just arrived from the US to work in Doha

for a few years. We have been homeschooling my son for

3yrs now and we were going to try to put him in the American

School in Doha but there is no room so we are going to home

school him again. We are looking for more kids in the area

to form a home school group so we can give each other support

and for the kids to be able to interact together.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Hope you will adapt quickly and get oof to a good start.

1. No idea. You might want to check with your embassy.

2. Some schools have soccer after-school activities. You can also try a program called Soccer Rio run by Professor William Lawson (Brazilian), phone no. 573-8964 or [email protected]. From first-hand experience it's quite good.

3. What libraries? Seriously. If you mean public libraries, forget it. There are a couple of bookshops but don't compare them to Barnes and Noble, Border's or Waldenbooks.
