Having a pet in Qatar

Hello, everyone. I have found a kitten here 3 months ago and I took it home. So, when I will go back to Greece the kitten should travel at the luggage cabin as Qatar airways doesn’t allow animals in the passengers’ cabin. The problem is that my experience with Qatar airways concerning “luggage maters is not the best. They delayed the submission of my bags for one day and I have a friend who has totally lost his luggage. I think it is too extreme for them to lose a pet’s travel box with a cat in it but I am worrying. Does anyone know another company with which I can travel from here to Greece? I don’t mind if I have to go through Dubai or Bahrain or Cyprus. Does anyone know what papers do I need in terms for my pet to travel with me? And finally does anyone know where I can find a vet?

Can anyone help me with an estimate for shipping cats to Doha? I am looking for a rough estimate of what it costs to ship your pet. If you do not want to write it in the public area please send a message to my inbox.

Thank you

If you are not sure how to handle it, leave it for the professional services. www.europuppy.com has been assisting customers from Qatar for several years now.

I think it wonderful that someone has taken on the task of asking the Ministry here in Doha to join the EU Pet Passport Scheme, I am 100% supportive of this action. I am motivated because I have recently moved to Doha and am considering sending for my two cats who reside currently in Houston. I have been concerned about the quality of care they would receive traveling from Houston to Doha(direct on Qatar Airways but a long haul). I'm getting mixed messages on care - since this is a relatively new route I wonder if there is any informtion gathered yet. Before I commit to their travel, I will also be micro-chipping each.

Hi everyone,

Anyone bringing a pet over should really get it done through a professional pet relocation company. I know for a fact that Qatar Pet Relocators import and export loads of animals every month and they've never had a problem with Qatar Airways before. It might be worth contacting them at www.qatarpetrelocators.com and asking them any questions you have!

QAWS stands for Qatar Animal Welfare Society....

Yes, please tell me about what happened with your boss's dog.... I will be bringing my boy out here soon and I want to make sure this doesn't happen with him.... imagine being away from mommy for months then flying for 8 hours and getting lost in transit.....

I would be furious with QA if this happened with my boy.....

Qatar Airways lost my bosses dog on a flight here. They left it in the luggage hold in Frankfurt for two days before anyone found it. Don't trust Qatar Airways with a pet. Contact QAWS and get the number for the qatar pet relocators, they will handle everything, and they don't trust Qatar Airways with pets.
