Hi there, we are not successful in finding a pet store in Doha. Is there any that somebody could recommend for buying all necessary stuff for cats? Thanks!
You can find all the accessories for your pet at https://mypetbirthday.com. Collars, dog leashes, scratching posts, shampoos, toys, relocation crates...
You can find scratching posts, beds, carriers, collars, ID tags, grooming supplies setc. at Qatar Veterinary Centre. Go to http://www.qatarvet.com/LOCATION.html to find their location.
Thanks for that info and I apprecaite it very much. Have you bought any pets from this place? Do you know how much a dashound pup will cost? Do they have the pedigree and vaccination certificates?
(u) could be doing this ok!!!!!!! we buyed dog and now we r selling it ok dont say like this .......ok!!!!we r not like u...u r SCAM OK..........................we were looking to adopt first then we dint we buyed 1 we dint adopt u r scam coz ur dogs have no breeds,,,,.... ok ...
Thanks for suggesting my website, but this Maani guy is a scam artist. He's been bugging us to adopt, and yet he has animals for sale. Track his posts, you'll see.
It has been suggested The Rider, Opp Toys R Us & Applebys, Ramada Jct (ish) has a good supply. It is a horse shop but has a pet store at back. Have not been yet but maybe worth a try.
Hoping to get my 2 babies next week so am so so so excited!
Slightly different thread but for all those pet lovers out there. I believe that the QAWS is closing at the end of the year so they are trying to rehome all the pets they have. I have only really seen the cats / kittens but they are well looked after there - just in need of a caring home. All are really friendly and willing to give you a big cuddle.
If you know of anyone that could give a home to an animal please contact the QAWS. They do not charge for the animals, just ask for a donation to keep them fed and healthy.
They also welcome volunteers to help out feeding / cleaning / walking the animals. It is so worth while!
Claire, I don't know of a Pet Shop, but (unlike Oman, where you must drive to Muscat to feed your felina domestica), you can find a good choice of cat chow usaully at Megamart (Landmark), Megamart (The Centre), Lulu Hypermarket, Family Food, Food Palace. Carrefour also has food but not always a wide choice. Cat toys & litter (poop & scoop) used to be fund also at Megamart, but the 'clumlping' clay/sand kind is not always readily available. Special diet foods can be found at Vets and I saw some Iams (?) at the Centre behind Ramada Hotel.
I highly recommend it. I am not sure about the in cabin regulations for KLM. Our dog went cargo and was fine. Just call KLM or email them. I would also highly recommend getting in touch with Qatar Pet Relocators if you haven't already.
Munozchick our dog is a Beagle/Russell/Shepard. She has the beagle nose, the russell smarts and the shepard tenacity. Great dog, she was a little head strong as a puppy, but smart as a whip this one.
We are moving to qatar from Canada and I was wondering which airline you used and did they allow pets in the cabin? Our dog is only 9 lbs. so I think it would be better to bring her aboard if possible.
What breed is your dog? I would love to go to cadavar detection dog handler school one day. I think my husbands going to stick with the explosives detection though.
Yes, Old Navy for sure. It's inexpensive but doesn't look like it. I wish they had that here...or a Target.

more expensive than the food itself. I should really get on some of these US dot com pet businesses to open up affordable shipping in the Middle East....they could make a fortune with all the dog lovers here.
We are actually heading back to Canada for a 6 week leave (dog and all) and will stock up on food and "stuff". I will also be stocking up on Old Navy (lol..I noticed in another thread you are a fan as well).
That's cool what your husband does for a living. Our dog is a scent breed and we considered putting her in a scent detection school, but we got transferred here instead. Poor girl, now she just tracks the stray cats.
My husband is a bomb dog handler so I understand the whole dog infatuation. We have several dogs that stay with our family back in the States and we just adore them. Of course, I love any kind of animal...except birds for some reason. Anyway, theres nothing wrong with being extra careful with what you feed your animals :)
Have you thought of having someone from home buy the food and then ship it to you?
Is the food I use. It is one of the few out there on the market that does not contain corn. Dogs do not actually asborb anything from corn, so we can all guess where it goes. Most foods use corn as one of their primary ingredients, dogs like the taste and it is a cheap filler.
Innova also uses human consumption grade meat, rather than the "hotdog" type stuff that found in other brands. Lately I have been feeding my dog a mix of chicken, rice, vegetables and fruit and I throw in some nuts & hummos so that she gets a good nutritional balance. (People are probably rolling their eyes right about now...but I will admit it...I am one of "those" crazy dog people). My dog is a very hyper breed and I noticed a distinct difference in her personality when we switched originally...corn is also sugar and dogs don't digest sugar well either.
I noticed Pets.com had a variety of brands....I wanted to research their content...never bothered before as I hadn't thought we could ship here. Plus it would be nice to get some new toys and supplies from time to time.
Let me know. I haven't been able to locate good quality food at either the vets or stores. We had originally shipped 6 months supply, but since then I have been home cooking. It would be nice to be order some some provisions for time to time.
Yes, I have ordered food from them. The shipping cost for 9 18 lb bags was $44 BUT I had them sen to the Army base. I'm not sure if there would be a fee to have it sent somewhere out in town. I will try to find out and let you know.
Sorry to hijack the the thread....but have you been ordered food/supplies from Petco.com? I am just curious about customs, duties and what freight costs were like.
Claire...I have been to all the pet shops in Doha and the animals are in poor condition. The cats are in tiny cages and have infections. I think the worst was the one by Markiyah round about. Thankfully, its gone now. Its just my personal opinion on the petshops.
There is a great stall in the big old souk (Wakif) where we got a cat bed, scratching post etc all for very reasonable prices.
We have gone back a few times now and he reduces things even further if you become a regular customer. Difficult to explain where it is in the souk though, roughly speaking furthest end from Souk Ahmed and the falcon shops,
I do not recommend going to any pet shops in Doha. I have cried everytime I've been in one so my husband stopped taking me. We buy our cat food at Megamart, Shoprite and Family Food Centre.
Yes, the supermarkets have got a good supply of things recently. Oh and the 6QR shop at Hyatt Plaza often has nice toys. Another place you may want try is the shop at Pampered Pets boarding kennels they have some lovely beds, toys and treats. Be wary when it comes to buying from vets, as they do put the price up a lot on certain items to what they bought it for.
have u try the two pet shops in Al maqab street? I cannot remember the name of the shops, but one is a few doors down from The Far East Restaurant, and the other is on the traffic lights (half way down Al-Maqab street)opposite Falcon video shop.

As far as food...Petco.com is great!
The vet has new collection of pet accessories
You could find more details in http://www.dohavets.com
There is a pet shop in the old souq it called Iran souq it is located behind HSBC banc the main branch.

You scare me a little...

... the food seams to be the easier part. I am more worried about a "bed", toilet, litter or scratcher.
Thanks for other proposals, folks. We'll check it out.
Sometimes the best place to buy the better quality pet food is the vet surgeries here.
You can find cat supplies at both the Mega Mart and the Family Food Center
Try the one near Luqta shopping complex, right next to Immigration ROundabout in Madinat Khalifa.
