Delivery food options?
Does anyone have good recommendations for restaurants/shops that will deliver food to homes, especially in the al-gharrafa area (near the al-gharrafa sports roundabout and the gulf english school). I know that Turkey Central is a good choice, but am interested in people's experiences with other places. My wife is having a tough time adjusting her stomach to Qatar (she has chronic digestive problems which make her much more likely to get sick in new places than most people, even when she's really careful), and we're looking for some safe variety for within the house.
I'm also curious about whether the restaurant al-majlis al-arab just by landmark mall is a branch of the same restaurant known as al-majlis in al-sadd that the guidebooks all rate highly for local qatari and other arab food.
there are lots of homedelivery options but it depends upon the kind of food you like, caravan, is quite reliable on home delivery, but with most places, they create a hassle when it comes to finding your place, and now with traffic, its usually an hour or more of delivery time, that is, if they find your house.
kabab king has good food, and they do homedelivery, nandos is good too.turkish is the favourite amongst many.there is mazza near the airport, tandoor behind family food centre, airport.most of these are indian joints.
:) :)
Your welcome Lawprof, i had a great experience buying food from Nando's (chicken with herbs and salad) and Caravan (indian, thai, chinese, japanese and filipino food), for ice creams we always order from Dairy Queen and they are here in 15 minutes.
Thanks for your reply! I have marhaba (and a bunch of other Doha books; I'm a professor after all, collecting books is part of what we do :) ).
I guess I was wondering whether people had particularly good or bad experience with delivery food. I know that a lot of Americans in the diplomatic and academic communities here love Turkey Central, but was hoping to get some other personal recs if anyone has them.
Now if I could only figure out where the al-Gharrafa primary medical facility is.

Lots of restaurants in Qatar have delivery service, i recommend you to buy the Marhaba (book with all kind of info about Qatar) in any Carrefour or Giant Store, the book has an excelent restaurants guide including cost of food, dress code and delivery service.
