moving to Qatar

By Maria Luisa

We are moving to Qatar from India with my husband's work possibly as soon as mid-January next year. My son turns 4 in Feb. and is going to a small preschool here with only 12 kids. I am looking for such a school and to enrol him possibly. I am looking not to make too many changes for him and prefer to keep it small.

Also, we would like to bring our nanny from here to there as the children love her. Anybody know if it is possible or how long it takes, cost etc. She is actually Tibetan. Are there any Tibetan Indians out there to allow her to meet some of her own?

And finally I am sure there are some Canadians out there. Are you in a club of some sort? Here in Delhi we were lucky to have such a club, but everything else in India is stressful so it somehow balances. I hope someone can reassure me that living there is quite different to here and I mean in an appealing way!

thanks for a piece of your valuable time

hi maria.i checked your profile and will tell u doha will be a pleasant change from delhi or any place in india.

you shud not have a problem getting a job as a nurse here.

about ur kid. most classes take about 20 per class....but u will have to check the schools here personally.there are many schools here.

there are many canadians here...so interacting with them wont be a problem...there are a few western meeting places...once u are here. u will get to more about them in detail.

i dont think u will be able to get your maid along with you....u will have to check it out with your employers here..how thats going to work out. usually the spouse comes first...his visa formalitites are done first and then the rest of the family follows...getting her here wont be a problem....but whether she travels with you together is another issue...u need to get a seperate maid visa for her.

i dont know if there are tibetian indians here.

i am an indian born and brought up here and i love this place.u have lot of quality time here.lots of time you can spend with family.unlike bombay and delhi where life is very fast.thats not the case here...its very laid back...at times lazy.....but its a fast developing nation and hopefully things will get better on ahead.there are clubs u can join for your pastime so it neednt be boring for you here.

let me tell you this place is getting very expensive by the day...so check your package well before you make your move here.

you took a risk while moving to india...well this will be a pleasant risk for you.............hope i answered most of the questions...if u need to know anything more...pls ask.
