Police abuse in the Land of the Free
By Tigasin321 •
I came across this article in yesterday's Sunday Times. A British College Professor visiting Atlanta (sorry Red Pope!) for a conference was arrested for jaywalking, beaten up by the cops and put in jail overnight. Have a look at this article and tell me what you think.

Spare me the police abuse.
Was he given a verbal notice from the cops for not using the Pedestrian crossings?
Where the barriers or security tape of constraining pedestrian walk ways are on place? They clearly said: "Do not cross, Police zone".
Did he open his mouth at the cops?
I don't think, he is that innocent and he is not telling the whole truth in avoiding the embarrassment.
For someone to get beat up and hazel like that needs to be a motive and a cause.
I do understand Cops are not that innocent, some of them are abusive, but spare me his whole point of view in the article.
Word of wisdom, Jaywalk is a 150.00 dollar fine and is post it all over the streets of Atlanta.
As illegal zone parking and their jack boots in Atlanta.
I am only happy to see he doesn't turn his experience into an anti-American tirade. I have been badly treated by cops in the Uk and in Italy [in the latter case for crossing the road during a religious parade!] but i wouldn't generalize my experience into a condemnation of European values.

in part, and negative on the cops and the pervading officiousness of American law enforcement bureaucracy. A stance I would agree with.
