if you want something quite go to the piano bar at movenpic, paloma is just a tex mex restaurant with a bar. waterhole is bit boring, cloud9 is not bad but quite small n stuffy,Library at Ramada is nice place to sit n talk with soft background duo performing and if you want something loud and a place to jump n hang loose then its the Qube. for sports action its garveys or shehrzad or watever they call it.
make the best of what is there or you'll find yourself sitting in front of your tv doing nothing.
is unrelentingly awful. I live just behind it and it is the only bar within walking distance.
1st floor Scherezad Bar: Sleazy dump full of fat boozed up morons and old Chinese hookers
Library Bar. Nice views over Doha but no atmosphere at all and the Czech duo currently in residence are truly dreadful.
Qube: Big barn with truly awful house band.
Only two places for music in Doha. The best is Admirals Club. Their current DJ is as good as you will find anywhere. Music also good at Rydges but the place has the atmosphere of a college bar.
I really really hope that with the new hotels opening up in the next few months there will be some more choice.
Oh, I almost forgot, Movenpick Piano Bar is a nice place to have a drink and a chat.

and to update my previous list, Rydges is an Australian based bar with a good setup including a pool and a pool table, and good music to dance to but is usually full of various unshaven men of the world checking out the talent. Good familiar place to meet people for a drink and a chat.
havent been to the Library bar sorry :-( but the bar on the first floor of the Ramada is a stinky place for fat middle aged men and the women that service them. they do, however, have good comedy nights once a month.
Diet centre is khalas, they jacked the prices up so I have boycotted them now. well, that and i was getting bored of the food. end result is not that great, after Christmas in Australia and rediscovering the delights of the middle east i am pretty much back to where I started. but I don't care that much now- work has consumed my entire life so i have stopped obsessing over my weight. and anyway, for some reason the arabs prefer curves to bones!
what you mean by not much food joints on corniche?
there is nothing on corniche even to buy a bottle of water. do you think i want to see burger king on corniche? no way!!! just one or two areas to drink tea, coffee, juices...
If they really want they can build something nice without destroying the beauty, thats up to the idea and imagination of the architects...
I think it shouldn't be taken as just dance and drinks for nightlife.
I suffer from lackness of cultural events in Doha. As I missed Anatolian Fire, Madame Butterfly under Asian Games events, I would like to see such entertaining performances more in Doha. Much more that if we can not find any place for one , we can go for the other:D
For example, there are some nice places making wonderful fruit cocktails, why not play bowling while you drink? A big complex with bowling, billiard, electronic games for adults strongly required...
About Alaaddin's Kingdom,it is the only theme park with nothing! It should be more inviting...with some little theatre shows, animal shows, high quality electronic video games, good food, some recreation near sea... In Turkey, they make people to sit on camels for a little tour and take photograph, sorry I couldn't see any camels since I came here(9 months).
About sea side, Doha has a wonderful corniche people just go and sit on grass, why there isn't some cafes, food courts, just something to sit and watch the scenery while you eat or drink apart from benches...
Those make the night life better and you could have somemore alternatives other than going to clubs. I want to think on what to do at night, not think of which club to go!!!
there are about 5 places which are fun to go for drinks and a dance at nighttime. maybe 6.
they are all quite different, one is snobby (the Pearl) one is for middle aged people and is always packed (Paloma) one has a mix of american and indian music and is really really smoky (Cloud Nyn), one is massive and has a very gay (as in kitch) cover band doing 80s stuff (Qube), one is british but i dont go there (garveys) and one is just the right size with awesome music and a good atmosphere (admirals).

by the way Han to answer your questions, Cloud Nyn is in the Merweb hotel in Al Saad, and Admirals is at the Marina at the Ritz-Carlton.

After just having spend 2 weeks at the Ramada I can only agree with Liana - the first floor bar stinks!
The Library Bar is acceptable but with a terrible Eastern Europe band playing "worst of the 80'ies"
But I prefer Habanas (The Cigar Bar) at the Ritz - much more classy and with a better band
So now I'm happy that I have checked out of the hotel.
When the s*** hits the fan...

Hi Han19

Han19 - Admirals is at the Ritz Carlton.
ninfea - Try the Red Castle (Ras Al Nasah) on the Corniche.
There is one near to sheraton or have you missed it??

Thank god that there are not much food joints and cafes in corniche. Otherwise the whole beauty would have been spoilt.

are you done with the diet center, what was the final score?
you seem to have visited most of the joints, where is CLOUD NYN and ADMIRALS?
happy heart
drive safe because someone is waiting for you at home

I think Doha needs such places...
Also 11th floor Ramada. More of a relaxing place.
Cheers
You forgot Rydge's plaza Liana!!!

Cheers

At night it gets dark here. That is the nightlife.
