Visa for Wife

Hi there,

I am in the process of accepting a work contract in Doha starting at the beginning of June. Unfortunately the company says that my wife  (and baby daughter) will have to wait 3 months before they can enter. This does not make sense to me and I understand that they can get a 14day Tourist Visa which can be extended to 1 month. What happens then ?  Can someone please explain as surely that has affected a lot of married people. The options that I have heard about are:-

1. Wife (and baby) arrive on Tourst visa and extend for 1 month. (Does she need a hotel address and return ticket ?)

2. Can she extend the visa after one month ?

3. Does she have to fly out to Bahrain

4. Can she get a touirst visa extension from travel agent in Souq asiri for another 3months for a agreed fee ?

5. Get an Affadavit from our Embassy (Australian) stating that I am prepared to incure medical expenses and take responsibilty.

I have also heard that you can apply for a "personal visit visit" but when can she do that. We are Australian citizens but also hold right of abode visa in the UK.

Can anybody help me ?

If you are still in need of advice on your wife coming to Doha, I may be able to help. I have been here since 22 Dec. When I arrived, I purchased a tourist visa. Since then, I have renewed it 3 times. If you have any questions at all, feel free to post here or email me ..... [email protected]. I certainly will not have all the answers, but will try to give you some insight on what your wife will need to do. It is definitely a process and can be quite frustrating, especially when you have no idea what to expect. I am saying this cause I have been there. Let me know if I can help. Good luck to you!

Sounds to me like your company may have you on a 90 day trial period and they don't want to do the work for your family until that time is over. Maybe not. 1 month tourist visas can be extended and I don't think you need a hotel once you have your RP. You get the visa extened over next to the airport.

When my husband moved over it took them 6 weeks to get us over here and that was mainly because they didn't have a house for him yet.

Best wishes
