Vasanth Bhavan ( Bharath is i guess the hotel group name ) is bang on the Crazy Signal....if you are coming from the airport or toyata signal then just cross the crazy signal and its on the right side ...the corner building. Its clearly visible from the road. Ample parking is avl at he rear of the building.

I had been to Bharath Restaurant on 6th afternoon. Had to come back due to ruch & chaotic situation. Went again on 9th. The dosa & vada were vrey nice. Vrey authentic tamilian chutney & sambar.
Service quality not up to the mark. Due to visa issues perhaps, they have Nepali servers. So not able to get the bonding.
Pricing is very reasonable.
There are north indian items in the menu, but not sure about the taste/quality. Be prepared for 20-25 minutes waiting time.
All said & done, a good alternative to Garden. By the way, anybody has heard about Anantha Bhavan, another veg. joint that's opened recently, apparently somwhere neear Mrecure accor!!
How bout we do a bkfst this FRI morning... we could meet up at some place and then decided whether its Bonanza, that new Bhavan place or the sad old Prestige or Garden...
Lamb thanks for the directions and also for the new restaurant. I think Al Jazeera Appts makes it quiet easy to locate. Whats the proper name anyway? Vasant Bhavan or Bharat Bhavan? Watch out for my review on this restaurant latest by Saturday :)
NTN: There's a good history behind the word Crazy in Crazy signal. Nothing spectacular left at that junction anymore to be really termed as crazy. LOL. Am sure Doha oldtimers would agree with me. To get there? Ain't sure if a newbie karwa driver would know of that junction as crazy signal. Can't recall the official name either, its actually the junction where airport road and A ring road intersect. Check out www.wikimapia.org, that might just help.
Han: You don't have to ask to join any of my treats! :) Well actually Lamb was quite right in pointing out that Bonanza might not be an ideal place for a treat. But with limited options that we have in Doha for good south indian food, I guess thats one of the few good ones around.
Since you understand Jaidah flyover, this is the direction to Bonanza (the best place for quality taste but down market for "treat"). Leave the Jaidah flyover while driving from Ramada and take a U-turn below the flyover. Then turn first right inside-that area is bin Mehmoud. Cross first red light straight and 5 shops before the next signal on the right is Bonanza.
Today a new Vegetarian restaurant called Vasant Bhawan is opened on the Crazy signal in Aljazeera Appartments building. This could be worth a try.
Well I dunno what places do you know in Qatar? It's in Bin Mahmoud area, which is bang opposite to the "Center" shopping or just besides the Jaidah Flyover.

I've been to Bonanza, but only in the mornings, and yeh, they are much better than what you'd get at Garden or Prestige... Infact, I've not come across any good UDIPI joint here that serves yummie dosa's etc... So hun... holla me when you get to know of anything... :-D
