MASHREQBANK credit card section,customer's HARASSMENT
Have you guys heard about this, somebody from mashreqbank credit card section called it's customer to pay his/her over due (only for a month) bill. if not, they will send the police to jail you. is that how you treat your customers? regardless of colour or nationality in particular. Imagine! never in my life have heard such thing and even the customer did settle half of his bill and even payed the minimum payment, still the masreq guy in white insist to pay all of his/her bill.
SO UNPROFESSIONAL, SOUQ STYLE OF TREATING CUSTOMERS,IS THIS A BANK?
Do we know for sure whether the account is 180 days past due or not?
In Qatar banks make money differently from banks in other countries.
In the US, for instance, banks don't want credit card customers who don't occasionally repay their credit card a few weeks late, earning a bit of interest here and there for the bank. Whereas here it's so common and easy for people who owe money to get on a plane and not come back.
And at the end of the day, what one person calls 'rude' is what someone else just calls 'doing their job'.
Mike, I think the issue with reputation with banks here in Qatar is a little different.
People complain about ALL of them...so it really does not have much impact....
Fubar I get it what you are saying, but in my previous experience working in the finance sector, it was not cost-effective at all for us to litigate with someone who's delinquent for less than 180 days, I just believe the banks are getting way too paranoid. There is also a customer service/PR issue here, if people start complaining on social media, the bank's image will look pretty bad... there's an old say that you can cut someone's throat with cotton balls.
Mike it's not uncommon for debt collectors to be paid a commission on the money they can get your to repay. So if he rings you and scares the crap out of you and makes you pay sooner, the bank wins (they get their money back) and the bank employee wins (he gets a commission for recovering some of the money) and generally the customer wins (it's less interest, and less chance of being jailed by paying up on time).
Wow this is harsh... so what's the job requirement, being joyless and must have a serious inferiority complex? I just don't understand why would a customer service agent take this so seriously, I mean, it's his job but not his money.
According to law, UAE banks can claim immediate payment on loans if:
Failing to pay three consecutive installments or six non-consecutive in addition to the invalidity of customer data.
They should follow the same here (specially that they copy Dubai in everything)

dont play play with loan & cheque in the middle east...
mashreq treat customers like crap , similar experience with them and they threaten their customers, put the phone down on customers faces and tell customers they are not customers anymore, worst bank ever dealt with
stay clear of loans and be peaceful
i just experienced it this morning, for having missed to pay my due last month.. then they called me, shouted at me and even threatened that I will be reported to immigration for defaulting a payment.
THANK GOD
Only happens in Qatar...(my opinion) ;-)
"RESPECT BEGETS RESPECT"
There isn't a day that goes by without me hearing negative things that are going on here. What the F*** do they feed people here in customer service!
I know that these things do happen. When you be late in paying your debts, they call you and ask you to pay or the prison is waiting. When you try to go out and everything is ok from your side, they forget to clear there responsibilities and no one can tell them why ... sorry it was a mistake.
What the hell is this? I don't know how do these people think, but I know that they need in addition to the professional courses they take [if there is any]. They need also some courses in how to treat people and be good to the bank customers.
I really do feel sorry for your friend because it was their fault and they should be the one who go to the police station and clear everything and not you. They don't even care about what happened, if they got any feelings then they would at least clear the mess that they made.
Best Regards
this is something we should be aware, coz it can happen to anybody, no matter if its big or small credit card is really a catch. used it wisely and need to have a budget for it
"RESPECT BEGETS RESPECT"
My friend was supposed to go home for a vacation to see her daughter's graduation but couldn't get an exit permit because she has a bank loan and was alleged of fleeing the country. It turned out that the bank forgot (duhh!!!) to retract the complaint after she paid up.
I have to accompany my friend (poor thing) to the police station and then to the Public prosecution Office to get that clearance and clear her records again. By the time it was sorted out, it ws too late for her to leave...
Now, tell me if it's CUSTOMER SERVICE...
"RESPECT BEGETS RESPECT"
It is only a month guys, they don't have the right to do that. Even if you were late they will send you a warning that you did not pay. If that happens again they will send you another warning and ask you to pay or it would be a problem.
I never heard of such a thing, after only one time they warn you and about to call the police? Are you sure that it is a bank? It is more likely a mobs job than a bank that should treat customers with respect.
Best Regards
He squeeze the sanity out of you. My friend paid half of her total loan but still she gets harrassed by this guy. I was told these guys (from the bank)CAN DO WHATEVER they want and really files complaints to the police so the poor customer is inconvenienced and humiliated.
It there no law in Qatar (in the entire GULF)that protects the customer against these people?
"RESPECT BEGETS RESPECT"
I once knew a guy that had his car loan outstanding. He was leaving the country on holiday, when he found the police waiting for him at the airport. They dragged him to jail, and he was ordered to pay in full the amount before being let out of prison.
This was in Dubai. Let's not forget where we live.........
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." Mahatma Ghandi
but they should not do that, other banks they dont do that, in singapore,NZ,philippines, germany, malaysia, dubai, bahrain i've been to this countries and heard none about this, even customer has long overdue or either huge credit amount, but they should approach it in different way.
Mite be the dues are huge and outstanding for longer duration
I think this customer should call the police before this bank agent does, they would charge the agent for threatening.

If they arrest the Energizer bunny would they charge it with battery?
