When was that? Last year maybe! my friend Lina says her husband just had road test and that's it because he's been driving for a long time. he uses his Filipino license to start with! nowadays? no way!

I believe you're Qatari right? We Asians did have to pass through a needle hole in order to get this license although we have a valid driving license back home and some of the Asians is been driving for long period of time they still have difficulties to get a license. Americans, UK, Australia etc don't have that difficulties they just convert their licenses to a local one.

Ask Asians member on this board!

sl wife's still struggling to get a license.

To answer your questions:

1. If you do not have a driver's license from your home country, you have to take driving lessons in order to obtain a Qatari license.

2. The tests are done using manual transmission car.

It also depends on the nationality. He didn't emphasize his nationality, so we don't really have an idea.

If you don't have any license at all, you have to apply for a license through Traffic police at Madinat Khalifa they will send you to do a full course for 50 days. Some people already have licenses from their own country, although they've been driving for quite a long time, they still fail the test. In my case, I learned to drive here on my own willing depending on my Int'l Driving License. then I enrolled at United Driving School, I had my pocket parking practice for 5 days then took the test the following week and I passed the test and had my license at the same day.

...pay a bit extra to your examiner to pass you. From how I've seen things work here so far, that wouldn't surprise me.

Depends where you're from, some licenses are exchanged without a word being said.

Your profile says you're from Qatar.
