Visa received finaly!!!!

I can't believe that I have finally received my visa(I have it with me). What I couldn't understand though is that the issue date on it was 30, April, 2007! and it was only printed last Thursday. However, I got a call from the HR director informing me that my residence permit could take up to 45 days to process.

I need to know a few things before arriving to Doha:
1- I hold a Jordanian drivers license. What do I need to do to get a Qatari one?
2- How soon can I buy a car?
3- How soon can I rent a flat? (I need a 2 B/R U/F) flat.
4- Is there a need to arrive to Doha from Amman (because I am a Jordanian)? I am currently in Dubai.
5- My job title is in the Managers' status. does that grant me entry to GCC countries without visa?

answer to Question No.4 No you can come from anywhere to Qatar as long as you come by air, not by hiding in a truck or on foot at night through the border.

answer to question No.5 it doesnt matter what is written on your passport in the job title as long as you have the GCC visa you can "visit" any other GCC country.

about your questions...

1. From what I know, if it's a GCC license, you'll just have to go for an eye test and they'll give you a Qatari license; if not...you'll either take the test or go to at least 15-25 days of driving school for the driving test.

2- you need to have your Residence permit first for cash or thru bank financing.

3- You can scout thru real estate agents, classified ads or ads in the supermarkets and malls.

For question 4 & 5 - I have no idea, sorry..

Again, welcome to Doha!!!!
